Position Overview

You possess the ability to see both sides of every situation and apply your negotiating skills to find common ground through transparent and respectful conversations.

As our Community Relations Manager, your role entails collaborating with municipalities to advance and support opportunities that align with municipal goals regarding energy and climate objectives. The successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of municipal policy, can cultivate and maintain strong relationships and can act as a connection between the municipality and our company.

Build relationships with elected officials, municipal staff, and business organizations through proactive engagement and timely resolution of issues
Remain abreast of energy polices, tracking relevant regulatory developments, and providing insight and recommendations on potential opportunities and challenges.
Build familiarity with company\xe2\x80\x99s programs and services to support municipal objectives
Collaborate with internal business units to help remove operational and maintenance issues.
Responsible for supporting business operations and sustainment initiatives and adhering to municipal agreements where applicable.
Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to implement strategies to maximize results and minimize risks.
Serve as a liaison between the municipality and the company. In year 2, you will:
Deepen relationships with elected officials and municipal staff in communities and be regarded as a trusted energy advisor.
Develop effective engagement plans that support municipal goals.
Provide value to communities and build trust through consistent engagement and timely response to issues.
Possess strong knowledge of programs and services that the company offers to support municipal objectives. Seek meaningful opportunities for community investment initiatives
Recommend solutions to help streamline internal processes to support municipal operations.
Act as a liaison between the municipality and the company while keeping senior management informed on opportunities and challenges. What it takes:
A bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in business administration, communications or other related disciplines from a recognized program, and a minimum of five years of recent and related experience and demonstrated success in strategic consultation and engagement.
Ability to manage issue related conflicts and issue resolution capacity (negotiation skills).
Ability to meet firm deadlines with minimal supervision.
Project management expertise and balancing competing priorities.
Comfortable delivering presentations and navigating challenging conversations.
Ability to assert interests with competing perspectives.
Exceptional organizational skills - manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Strong analytical and professional judgment skills
Demonstrated excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a panache for team-building
Ability to develop and maintain productive working relationships representatives from levels of government
Demonstrated Indigenous Peoples cultural and business awareness, with the ability to collaborate effectively with community leaders to build lasting relationships Additional Information
This position will require evening and weekend work and travel away from the base office to attend meetings and deliver presentations etc. within the geographic area of coverage for both the electric and gas operations.

In this role, you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program, enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week), subject to business or operational needs.
