Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia. It involves the construction and operation of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and would produce approximately 2.1 million tonnes per year of LNG.

Woodfibre Management Ltd is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

Join the Woodfibre Community Relations team as we ramp up our community information sharing and engagement over the spring and summer of 2023 before the start of project construction this fall.

As a Community Relations Ambassador, you will be essential in raising awareness and sharing information about the Woodfibre LNG project, our net zero strategy, relationships with Indigenous peoples, and our overall approach to maximizing community benefits. The role will involve participating in community outreach and information events, attending company-sponsored events, and supporting community initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be flexible, able to work with a dynamic team and support various external and internal planning, follow-up and reporting. The successful candidate reports directly to Manager, Community Relations, and Housing and will play an essential part in helping the company\xe2\x80\x99s Government and External Relations team by promoting Woodfibre LNG in the community.

Woodfibre LNG will provide full paid training to the Community Relations Ambassador to support the successful performance of the role.

Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Be an outgoing community ambassador and represent Woodfibre LNG at local community events from May-August.
  • Support the planning of various events and initiatives.
  • Coordinate, prepare, edit, format and proofread documents such as correspondence, memos, presentations, proposals, and reports related to the company based on activities in the community as required.
  • Maintain engagement records, including communication logs and monthly reports.
  • Record minutes at various meetings and distribute or archive them accordingly as required.
  • Answer high-level questions about the Project (based on information provided during training).
  • Be stationed at a portable WLNG project booth and answer community questions.
  • Support other Woodfibre LNG activities as required.

Requirements

Required Experience
  • Currently enrolled in high school, a university or a technical program.
  • Must reside in the Squamish community from May-August, or have the ability to travel frequently to Squamish.
  • Incumbent will be required to work from home at the time.
  • Knowledge of, or interest to learn about, the natural resource industry in BC and Canada.
  • Knowledge of indigenous communities and cultures would be an asset.
  • Promote inclusion and diversity in the workplace.
  • Preference will be given to Squamish residents (and candidates that are members of the Squamish Nation or Tsleil-Waututh Nation).
Additional Requirements
  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Familiarity with computer programs (e.g., MS Office 365 and MS Teams).
Hours of Work
  • Part-time and full-time positions may be available, with work on some weekends and statutory holidays when local events are held, including Canada Day and BC Day weekends.
