Lac Ste. Anne County is currently recruiting for the position of Community Peace Officer Level 1 (CPO1). The County is looking for a driven individual prepared to grow and adapt with the team. This position is responsible to provide enforcement of applicable Municipal Bylaws, Animal Control, and select Provincial Statutes. Lac Ste. Anne County Administration Office, and this position, are located one and a half hours northwest of Edmonton, at 56521 Range Road 65. Responsibilities
The primary role of the position is to provide effective patrols, investigation, and enforcement of all applicable municipal bylaws and authorized provincial legislation through various means such as attempting to obtain voluntary compliance, issuing warnings, orders, and/or violation tickets as applicable. Animal Control is also an
obligation of the position. In support of these priorities, they must prepare and maintain all necessary documentation and reporting requirements in accordance with governing legislation and operating policies. Additionally, they will act as a liaison with residents and community groups and participate in relevant meetings and events.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must meet the minimum criteria required to obtain and maintain an appointment as a Community Peace Officer Level 1 through the Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Department. (Completion of the Alberta Solicitor General\xe2\x80\x99s Public Security Peace Officer Training is preferred). The incumbent must be familiar with the Community Peace Officer Program policies and procedures manual and have current and thorough knowledge of relevant legislation and enforcement procedures for both municipal and provincial statutes. A Grade 12 Diploma supplemented by a post-secondary degree or diploma in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field is desirable.
An equivalent of two (2) years of previous experience in a combination of animal control or handling, enforcement, government service, or similar public or private sector work is also an asset.
