The City of Beaumont is one of Alberta\xe2\x80\x99s fastest-growing communities located 1.5km south of Edmonton giving residents access to all the amenities of a large metropolitan city while offering the lifestyle of a smaller, close-knit community.

The CPO Level 1 is responsible for responding to and investigating complaints within the City that involve the enforcement of Municipal Bylaws and Provincial Statutes. The primary role will be a balance of, Bylaw Enforcement, Traffic Enforcement, and Animal Control duties. This position will be a visible component of the program in providing a proactive style of enforcement. The ideal candidate must demonstrate sound judgment; combined with a strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information. You also possess excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as outstanding public relations and problem-solving skills. The CPO will also be responsible for establishing positive relationships within the community and School Divisions and tasked with working closely with schools and youth providing advice and guidance to make informed choices through awareness, education, and positive role modeling.

What YOU Bring:

  • Post-Secondary Education in law enforcement, criminal justice, education, or related discipline, supplemented by four years of previous law enforcement experience as a Community Peace Officer 1 or member of the RCMP (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
  • Must meet all requirements of Alberta Justice Solicitor General Department to obtain a Level 1 Community Peace Officer Appointment
  • Valid Alberta Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (Minimum Class 5)
  • EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operations Course) or equivalent is preferred / mandatory completion after employment
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Prior experience with community and school-based programs with proven strong public relations experience is an asset.
  • Valid Alberta Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License (Minimum Class 5)
  • First Aid / CPR certification
  • Applicants must have successfully completed an approved Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (PARE), with a time of four minutes and forty-five seconds (4:45) or better, within the past six (6) calendar months / other equivalencies will be accepted as per the Peace Officer program
  • Enhanced RCMP security clearance is an asset
What WE love for YOU to have:
  • Previous experience in Bylaw Enforcement, Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, and/or Animal Control is preferred
  • Previous experience and training with PPCT, Baton / OC spray, and radar/laser is an asset
  • First Aid / CPR certification is an asset
  • MOVES - JOIN / Incident Report systems experience is an asset
  • Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Experience is an asset
  • Weights and dimensions experience is an asset
  • Radar/lidar training is considered an asset.

What WE Offer:

This full-time position offers an hourly rate of $32.53-$42.44 per hour (starting salary is based on experience and qualifications) based on a 40 hour work week. Full benefits package including LAPP Pension Plan.
