We are currently offering a new position to supplement our team:

Community Peace Officer / Community Safety & Wellness Officer
Wage Range: $34.94 - $41.72 per hour

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION: \xef\x83\xbc

Preserve and maintain public peace by upholding and enforcing Municipal Bylaws and authorized Provincial Statutes. \xef\x83\xbc
May be responsible to research, develop and implement community safety and wellness programs to benefit the citizens and visitors of Sylvan Lake \xef\x83\xbc
Conduct foot, vehicle bike and other patrols. \xef\x83\xbc
Investigate Municipal Bylaw and Provincial Statute offences and complaints and all required reporting. \xef\x83\xbc
Perform Traffic Enforcement duties, including traffic-stops, check-stops, directing traffic, issuing violation tickets, potential arrest of violent offenders in difficult circumstances. \xef\x83\xbc
Prepare professional Court Briefs and documents, and present evidence in Trial when required. \xef\x83\xbc
Liaise and work effectively with all Departments of the Town and Law Enforcement Agencies \xef\x83\xbc
Provide educational seminars to the community. \xef\x83\xbc
Rescue/Capture dangerous or distressed animals and provide humane care to those under your control.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: \xef\x83\xbc

Community Peace Officer Training (Solicitor General or equivalent) \xef\x83\xbc
Enforcement Diploma (such as Justice Studies, Police Studies, Conservatrion) preferred \xef\x83\xbc
Successfully complete a physical abilities evaluation (RCMP PARE Test - or equivalent) \xef\x83\xbc
Good written and verbal communication skills are essential \xef\x83\xbc
Excellent interpersonal communication skills in dealing with staff, peers and the public \xef\x83\xbc
Successfully clear a thorough RCMP Security Clearance
