How will you make an impact?
The Fireweed Institute exists to build a thriving Indigenous entrepreneurship ecosystem. We do things differently - we are looking for a proactive and community-rooted Community Manager to help implement and steward our Fireweed Indigenous Venture Accelerator program.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about learning and development, with lived or professional experience in Indigenous contexts, and with an aptitude for event organization, coordination of teams/groups, and creating great learning experiences. The Community Manager supports learning experiences and sessions for our Accelerator, ensuring participants are supported, logistics are well coordinated, details are kept in order, and program delivery runs smoothly.
What will you work on?
Program Delivery
Plans and manages the event details of in-person learning intensives, including site selection, activity planning, host-nation engagement, and logistics.
Serves as a point of contact for participants, answering questions, sharing resources, coordinating logistics, supporting their experience and understanding their goals.
Manages online participant communication channels such as Slack and Thinkific.
Working with the Facilitator and Program Manager, cultivates and maintains a learning environment that feels engaging, safe, collaborative and values-driven for Venture Accelerator participants and delivery partners, utilizing trauma-informed best practices
Supports (and when necessary, fills in for) the Program Facilitator, ensuring online classes start smoothly, stay on time, engage participants and integrate guest speakers and content appropriately.
Works with the Facilitator to manage program schedules, lesson plans, and learning materials to ensure participants and delivery partners are well organized (have what they need when they need it).
Supports Program Manager to engage knowledge-keepers, community partners and participants to ensure programming is culturally relevant and responsive to community needs.
Co-deliver in-person learning intensives, co-facilitating hands-on, culturally integrated land-based learning activities
Program Support
Support overall planning, coordination, and logistics of Accelerator programming.
Works with Tech and Innovation Manager to ensure smooth technical operations for Facilitator and other staff, participants and guest speakers for online sessions.
Works with Innovation Program Officer to cultivate a network a future program participants
Support storytelling, evaluation, and reporting by capturing quotes, case studies, and feedback during events and workshops.
Assist with contract coordination for instructors, facilitators, and Knowledge Keepers.
Work with Program Manager and Evaluation team to ensure tracking systems for participation, budgets, evaluation components and feedback are integrated into program schedule and communication
Team Collaboration & Learning
Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to continuous program learning and development.
Participate in cultural and professional development opportunities offered by Fireweed Institute

Required
Located within a commuting distance of Vancouver* Enthusiastic interest in creating a mission-aligned, mutually supportive and engaging group dynamic for a cohort of Indigenous entrepreneurs
Demonstrated experience as a group facilitator in Indigenous focused environments
Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations.
Some experience coordinating programs, workshops, or community events.
Technical aptitude with Zoom, Slack and Microsoft products
Strong organizational skills, reliability, and comfort juggling multiple timelines and logistics.
Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
Ability to safely lift 50lbs/25kg
Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Preferred
Some post-secondary education or demonstrated experience in business, entrepreneurship, education, Indigenous governance, or a related field; or equivalent lived/professional experience
Comfort with Canva, Slack, Miro, Asana, Microsoft 365, and familiarity with learning platform such as Thinkific.

The Fireweed Institute is a hybrid-remote workplace. Accordingly, candidates for this role must be located within a reasonable commuting distance of Vancouver (approximately 2 hours) for regular monthly meetings. Please note that commute is distinct from travel.*
