Langs has grown to become a dynamic, respected multi-service organization that uses a community development approach to provide comprehensive health, social and recreational services that are responsive to the changing needs of our community.
What We are Looking For:
We are currently recruiting for a Community Engagement Worker to join our Community Services team for a part-time position. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating community services programs to generate and maintain participant engagement within the organization.
A successful candidate in this role would have
Undergraduate degree or diploma in a health or social science discipline or combination of some post-secondary education and significant experience in community development and/or program development.
3-5 years' experience in human services and/or recreation in a community setting.
In-depth knowledge and experience in community development and prevention strategies for multiple age groups.
Staff and volunteer supervision experience.
Highly developed program planning, group work, and facilitation skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Thorough knowledge and proficiency in program development, delivery and evaluation
Working knowledge of health promotion, and the community health centre model would be an asset.
Proficient in the use of computers and various software applications
Safe Food Handling Certificate
Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle. Willingness and ability to obtain F-class license
In this role you will be expected to complete the following tasks
Plan, facilitate, and evaluate social and educational programs for children, youth, adults, older adults, and families in the Grow community.
Design and deliver special events and workshops aligned with community needs and Langs' strategic priorities.
Conduct community needs assessments (e.g., surveys, focus groups) to inform responsive programming.
Ensure programs adhere to organizational guidelines and safety standards for facility use.
Provide outreach to residents to raise awareness of available programs and support recreational activities across all Langs locations as needed.
Liaise with community agencies and partners to implement and support decentralized services and special projects.
Represent Langs on external committees and collaborative initiatives.
Supervise, train, and support Peer Workers, Leaders in Training, volunteers, and placement students.
Facilitate leadership development in residents and volunteers to support program planning and implementation.
Engage residents in collaborative processes with community partners and external planning bodies.
Prepare administrative, statistical, and program reports, and assist in the development of promotional materials and community presentations.
Support and participate in planning and execution of special events, including the Holiday Dinner, Picnic, Annual General Meeting, and Grow-specific initiatives.
Participate in internal and external training sessions and maintain professional development.
Complete other duties as required.

Starting Salary of $21.83-$26.11 hourly.
3 Weeks paid vacation
