Sundays:

09.30 to 20.00 hrs

Rate of Pay:

$21.19/Hour

?Due to the personal care and safety needs of some individuals, this position requires a?female?support worker.



Role Expectations & Summary:



Our Individuals living at our "Hawkmount" group home are looking for Community Support Worker for their daily needs. The expected diagnoses for the Individual are cerebral palsy, severe Developmental Delays, dementia, scoliosis, blind and deaf. Individuals may display physical behaviour of concerns and behavioural support plans will be provided to advance and achieve Individual's goals. The position requires full support for Individuals with hygiene routines, meal preparation, program activities, house chores, getting groceries, and medication administration. We are also looking for someone who is comfortable driving in all quadrants of Calgary. This position will require driving and attending medical appointments, sporting activities such as swimming, etc.

Provide medical, technological, environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioural support Attend medical/legal appointments with the Individuals Administer daily documentation, medication of the Individual, and key worker duties Assist Individuals in their daily chores and activities within the community or in the group home Support safety and cleanliness of the Individual's living space Complete tasks such fire drills//hazard assessments Communicate with OPG/Guardians/Family Member Collaborate, advocate & research for the support Individual if necessary such as hospitals if required Specific support to the Individuals on an ODP (Opioid Dependency Program) or O.A.T Drive to meet Individuals, or be able to transport them to activities or appointments throughout the day Learn the behavioural support plans to better understand Individual needs and requirements. Effectively complete required incident reports

About you:



You are someone who is dedicated to learning and researching about ongoing behaviors or concerns of the Individuals. As this group home facility is heavy on Individuals with trauma and addiction, you have previous work or learning experience in Harm Reduction Philosophy& Trauma Informed Care Practices,. You have an adequate knowledge about current mental health and addiction concerns and behaviors. You have previous experience or knowledge regarding bio hazards or illicit substances use. You are willing take training on Universal Precaution or Infection Prevention & Control and support the Individuals using PPE. You are ready to work in an environment that promotes the safe disposal of used needles or drug paraphernalia. You are willing to understand and learn the Individual's trauma history and collaborate with your team to come up with strategies to support them. You have excellent leadership skills and qualities, where you are not afraid to step-up in a crisis situation. You are someone who brings an adaptive, strong, and bold personality, as there will be Individuals who have verbally and physically aggression tendencies.



Minimum Requirements:



Minimum of a Canadian Certificate/Diploma in the?Human Services or Disability sector (equivalencies will be considered) Intermediate computer skills and MS Office proficiency Valid class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle, with?minimum $2,000,000 liability insurance?by time of hire Comfortable supporting Individuals with diverse disabilities and complex diagnoses

Preferred Requirements:



One-year relevant experience in the?human services field?and/or prior experience in a fast-paced day program/outreach is preferred Previous experience with trauma, addiction, harm reduction and substance use Previous work experience in a group home would be an asset Having a medical background - whether professional or academic * Current trainings including First Aid/CPR, Medication Administration, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Abuse Prevention Response Protocol, Positive Behaviour Supports, etc.
