Posted Date: Apr 05, 2024Community Development CoordinatorTown of Drumheller, Town of DrumhellerCommunity Development Coordinator - Temporary FulltimeThe Town of Drumheller is seeking an enthusiastic and industrious individual for the position of Temporary Full Time Community Development Coordinator.This is a temporary full-time position for approximately 6 months, with the possibility of extension.*Post Secondary student applicants who are available for fulltime work from mid-April to end of August and part-time hours thereafter may be considered.Key Responsibilities Include:Position Summary: Working within a dynamic team, the Community Development Coordinator will provide leadership, advocacy and support to our community and social development initiatives. Primary areas of focus will include community capacity building, enabling volunteerism, providing information and referral, conducting social research and analysis, and Welcoming & Inclusive Communities initiatives. This position prepares and executes grant proposals that contribute to existing programs and address emerging needs and trends within the community. Where applicable, the position is responsible for adhering to the Family and Community Support Services Act and Regulation.Requirements:Hours per Week: 37.50 hours (Monday - Friday) May work some overtimePay Scale: Program Coordinator ll ($24.58 - $28.77)Benefits: As per the Town\'s HR policy and CUPE 4604 Collective Bargaining Agreement.Required Qualifications: Grade 12 or equivalent as well as post secondary education in Community Development, Social Sciences or other human service disciplines. Minimum 3 years of community development and program coordination experience.Desirable Qualifications: Knowledge of existing community organizations, groups and volunteer activities. Valid First Aid/CPR Certification. Certified in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training. IAP2 training in planning and facilitating community public participation. Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and some General Holidays.Successful Candidate must be:

  • Able to perform all duties with a minimum of supervision and work effectively with variable work loads, producing timely and accurate documentation
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to participate in Interagency meetings to ensure awareness of current services and programs within the community, reduce duplication of services and assist in the identification of service gaps
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, research and report writing
  • Strong interpersonal skills including superior tact, judgement, problem-solving skills and the ability to work cooperatively with others
  • Proven ability to garner funding through grants, sponsorship and/or funding partnerships would be an asset
  • Ensure effective monitoring and reporting of funds from all sources within assigned budget
  • Support the development of the annual department operating and capital budgets.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to develop and deliver strategies that enhance current programs, build capacity, meet emergent needs and achieve department objectives
  • Represent the Town of Drumheller at assigned community committees e.g. Strengthening Families Coalition (Family Fun), the Good Food Box etc.
  • Collect program data and outcomes for quarterly and annual reports
  • Utilize traditional and social media to promote programs and services
  • Perform other related duties as required by supervisor
  • Valid Driver\'s license
  • Ability to provide a current Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Check
