The Organizations
Inspired by their foundress, Blessed Marie-Rose Durocher, the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM)have been dedicated to education and serving those in need since their founding in Longueuil in 1843. Arriving in Manitoba in 1874, they expanded their mission across the region. Today, they continue to address contemporary challenges through faith, academic, and justiceeducation, collaborating with partners to uphold their deeply rooted SNJM heritage.
Canadian Religious Stewardship (CRS) is a not for profit and charitable organization established by Catholic Religious Institutes from across Canada. CRS is assisting the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary (SNJM) based in Winnipeg with their evolving needs.
The Position
The Community Coordinator will work in close collaboration with the SNJM leadership team to provide support to a small group of 29 elder Sisters living in a variety of settings. The Coordinator will report to the Director of Human Resources and Communications of CRS.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administration & Communication:
Handle regular administrative and clerical tasks, including overseeing office equipment maintenance, supplies inventory, and services (network, phones, internet/email accounts).
Assisting Sisters with computers, email and Zoom.
Assist SNJM Associates with their communications.
Collaborate with existing contracted service providers (e.g., office housekeeping, cottage maintenance, computer/network etc.) and identify new service providers as required.
Attend occasional meetings, prepare notes and track and follow up on action items.
Manage regular communication initiatives (e.g. distribution of email newsletters, notices etc.).
Update and maintain website content and photos (WordPress).
Manage archives: collect, treat, and deposit documents at the Centre du Patrimoine
Community Coordination:
Collaborate with the SNJM Leadership Team to support the Sisters' well-being and coordinate aspects of the local community's life including Mass, special events, celebrations, small gatherings and funerals.
Collaborate with the SNJM Leadership Team in the execution of a strategic direction with short and long term objectives.
Assist in the organization and coordination of a variety of opportunities for the Sisters to engage in mission initiatives.
Foster relationships with external organizations.
Serve as an external local representative and advocate for the Sisters.
Understand, support and encourage the ministry/mission of the Sisters.
Companionship & Support:
Foster meaningful, ongoing relationships with each Sister through regular contact and/or in-person visits at personal residences, assisted living, or long-term care facilities.
As needed, accompany and/or drive Sisters to scheduled medical and personal appointments, (e.g.visits to physicians, specialists, physiotherapy, dental care, hair salons, pharmacies, and grocery stores, etc).
As needed, provide immediate assistance for unforeseen medical needs, such as emergency room visits following falls or other urgent health concerns.
As needed, assist with moving arrangements, including packing and coordinating donation pickups.
Assist with the upkeep of the SNJM cottage in collaboration with the maintenance worker and the SNJM leadership team.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
3-5 years experience in administration and office management or similar role.
Experience with basic office and administrative software such as MS Office.
Proficiency in email communication, document preparation, and spreadsheets.
Experience with WordPress or similar platforms is preferred for website maintenance.
Experience working with seniors.
1-3 years records management experience.
Hands on experience with planning events and coordinating community initiatives.
Knowledge & Skills
Compassionate, caring, respectful and adaptable with highly developed interpersonal and collaborative skills.
Understanding and support of Catholic values and religious life of the Sisters.
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with a diverse and intercultural group of women.
Self-directed with an ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Working knowledge of French required

Hours of Work
This is a part time position with some flexibility. The hours of work will be discussed and confirmed with the candidate and the congregation's leadership team (e.g. Monday-Friday mornings or afternoons with occasional pre-scheduled evening and weekend events). On occasion, unscheduled healthcare related events may also arise , including accompaniment to hospital emergency departments.
