Position Summary

The Community Coordinator has primary responsibility for the daily operations of the Community Engagement and Research Centre (CERC) within the Faculty of Arts. CERC serves as a hub for community-engaged research in the Faculty that works to bridge the gap between academia and the community. It also manages experiential learning opportunities for Arts students in the community. The Coordinator will help facilitate community-based research projects involving Arts faculty members, administration of the Arts Work Experience Program as well as workshops, seminars and lectures relevant to the mandates of CERC and the Faculty of Arts.

The Community Coordinator reports to the Associate Dean, Research and Graduate, and works in close collaboration with the CERC Academic Director and Advisory Council, to fulfill CERC\'s mission.

What You\'ll Do:

  • Manage Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the CERC.
  • Facilitate Engaged Learning: Coordinate the Arts Work Experience Internship (AWEI) program, providing students with valuable community-engaged learning opportunities.
  • Build Partnerships: Assist in establishing partnerships between community organizations and Faculty of Arts researchers and assist in developing collaborative research proposals.
  • Identify Research Needs: Work to identify and communicate the research needs of community-based organizations to Faculty of Arts researchers and the CERC Advisory Council.
  • Encourage Engagement: Foster community engagement by establishing and maintaining connections between the Faculty of Arts, the CERC, and community- based organizations. Guide researchers and organizations in partnership development, collaborative research design and proposal development.
  • Financial Management: Maintain and manage CERC\'s budgets and report on CERC\'s finances to Faculty of Arts Council.
  • Student Recruitment: Lead the recruitment process for student research assistants, including writing job postings, advertising, and conducting interviews
  • Communication: Oversee communication efforts to publicize research within the Faculty of Arts and the work of the CERC through websites, social media, annual reports, and other communication tools.
  • Event Coordination: Coordinate logistics for the Faculty of Arts lecture series.

Position Requirements

What You\'ll Bring to this Position:
  • Master\'s degree in social sciences or humanities is required; and
  • Minimum of two years of experience related to the duties outlined.
  • An equivalent combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered.
Skills That Will Ensure Your Success in the Role
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs and skill in operating a wide variety of complex databases;
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with community-based organizations;
  • Demonstrated interest in community development work;
  • Superior communication skills (verbal and written), with experience in public speaking and business writing;
  • Experience with hiring processes and selection of student positions;
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of financial and budget information;
  • Experience in website maintenance and social media;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work cooperatively with people in a number of different contexts and settings;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social science research methodologies;
  • Experience working in a respectful and culturally sensitive manner with Indigenous communities and organizations would be an asset;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to travel within the province and to work flexible hours;
  • Valid Saskatchewan Driver\'s License; and
  • Knowledge of research ethics and familiarity with the university environment is an asset.

Pay Grade APT 5
Salary Range $67,626 - $91,266 Annually
Status Permanent
Work Hours

Monday to Friday - 8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with infrequent evenings and/or weekends for special activities/events.
