Canada\xe2\x80\x99s National Ballet School is currently inviting applications for the contract role of Community Arts
Coordinator, Community Dance through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.

dance to change lives for the better. The Community Dance department plays a key role in NBS\xe2\x80\x99 mission,
providing equitable and inclusive dance programming that engages Canadians of all ages and abilities, with a
focus on supporting wellbeing and creating broad, positive social impact.

The Community Arts Coordinator will work with the Community Dance Department to support the planning,
implementation and evaluation of key special projects, with a focus on NBS\xe2\x80\x99 LEAD (Leadership,
Empowerment, Action, Dance) National Summit. In this role, individuals will work closely with NBS\xe2\x80\x99
Community Dance Teachers and Managers developing skills and competencies related to community-
engaged dance practice and arts administration. In addition to work within Community Dance, the role will
include collaborative projects with other NBS departments including the Young Dancers Program and
Brand Engagement.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day activity of the Community Dance Department, including engaging with and
creating a welcoming environment for a broad range of participants.
  • Assist with planning and execution of NBS\xe2\x80\x99 LEAD National Summit, including event coordination and
serving as a Youth Mentor
  • Support departmental communications and generate reports as required
  • Aid with records maintenance; support data collection/entry related to program evaluation and
reporting

Qualifications/Skills/Experience
  • High School or Post-secondary education
  • Passion for equitable and inclusive practices in dance
  • Experience or interest in working with children/youth or other vulnerable populations (e.g. Older

Adults);
  • Experience as a dancer and/or dance teacher - please note all dance forms and styles ( e.g., Afro-
