Position Summary
The Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) provides clinical therapy as defined and outlined by a Registered Speech Language Pathologist. The CDA develops treatment and activities, based on the goals established by the Speech Language Pathologist, and documents the same in the treatment log.
Qualifications
Graduate of a 2 year college diploma or an undergraduate degree is required
12 month Communicative Disorders Assistant Program Certificate required
Membership in the Communicative Disorder Assistant Association of Canada (CDAAC) preferred
Minimum of one year of adult communication disorder experience preferred.
Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, professionalism and respect for confidentiality
Must be able to perform all the duties in the position description
Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal skills
Excellent attendance record
Ability to transport materials (up to 20 lbs.), or push a patient in a wheelchair
Ability to sustain intense listening/mental concentration
Ability to make frequent changes in body position
Good visual skills
