The Communications Technician is responsible for implementing communication strategies, managing MESC social media platforms and an array of administrative duties. The Communications Technician is responsible to carry out MESC's duties and responsibilities in alignment with the MESC and the Superintendent's Office strategic plan and/or directives.

Responsibilities
The Communications Technician is responsible to the Executive Coordinator of the Superintendent's Office.
The Communications Technician duties include but are not limited to:
General Administration Support
Review and prepare documents, reports and other correspondence materials for the management team as requested.
Support the team in preparation and follow-up from meetings.
Assist the Governance Coordinator upon request.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all interactions.
Maintain a professional image and demeanour with all employees, management, executives, and visitors at all times.
Maintain an inventory of equipment and promotional materials.
Communications Support
Assist the communications team in developing and implementing a communications strategy designed to further company objectives
Write a variety of different content to support communications and marketing efforts, including newsletters, website copy, and brochures and press releases
Support engagement sessions with preparation and execution.
Collect content for MESC socials.
Design and implement social media strategy to align with business goals
Oversee social media accounts' design (e.g. Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures and blog layout)
Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews
Monitor analytics and create reports detailing the successes and failures of communications campaigns and strategies
Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions and competitions
Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications
Qualifications
A high school diploma is required.
College diploma/degree in business administration, office administration, and/or relevant experience.
College diploma/degree in Marketing or relevant field, and/or relevant experience.
One (1) to two (2) years of experience as an administrative assistant is preferred.
Previous experience in handling confidential or sensitive information; knowledge of applicable data privacy laws.

Proficiency in the Cree language will be an asset.
Proven work experience as a Social media manager
Hands-on experience in content management
Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
Solid knowledge of SEO, keyword research and Google Analytics
Knowledge of online marketing channels
Familiarity with web design
Analytical and multitasking skills
