MacEwan University is seeking a Course Resources and Communications Technician for a 14-month, full-time, replacement term opportunity with our Library.
Reporting to the Manager of Library Operations, you will play a vital role supporting both the operational and outreach activities of the MacEwan University Library. Drawing on your experience you will focus on three core areas: course resources administration (Leganto), library communications, and library service support.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Leading contact for Course Resource Lists service and Learning Management System integration;
Supporting faculty with training, digitization, and video uploads;
Monitoring service usage and providing technical support;
Developing unified content strategy across digital and print platforms;
Coordinating campaigns, events, and outreach in alignment with Library goals;
Training and supporting staff with web writing, accessibility, and communication best practices;
Gathering and analyzing data for reports and strategic planning;
Evaluating and enhancing communications via audits, testing, and user feedback;
Exploring emerging trends in social media and open standards;
Troubleshooting e-resource access and maintaining third-party tool data; and
Providing weekly reference support and occasional backup for interlibrary loan services (ILL), the print reserves collection, and distance delivery services.

SKILLS
You will have:
The demonstrated ability to create and deliver engaging digital content across platforms, including social media, aligned with institutional branding and messaging;
A strong understanding of audience engagement principles and use of analytics tools to assess communication effectiveness and guide content strategy;
Proficiency with Library Services Platforms (LSP), including core functions such as circulation, reserves, cataloguing, and interlibrary loan;
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) to support the integration of course materials and library resources;
Experience using content management systems (CMS) and basic web design tools;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear documentation and responsive user support;
Proven interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, faculty, and library users;
Well-developed, analytical, organizational and leadership abilities to manage workflows, problem-solve and support efficient service delivery;
Awareness of current trends and best practices in resource sharing, including electronic reserves and interlibrary loan services;
A commitment to delivering high-quality customer service and public engagement;
Experience in cataloguing, acquisitions, circulation, and e-resource management;
The capability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic, evolving environment; and
The aptitude for flexibility and adaptability, coupled with a commitment to accuracy and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
A minimum of a two-year Library Technician diploma from an accredited institution.
A minimum of two (2) years' of additional postsecondary education in information technology, communications, or public relations, or equivalent work experience.
A minimum of a three (3) years' experience working in a library environment.
Interlibrary Loan services experience is considered an asset.
Experience providing reference services in a postsecondary (or large public) library is considered an asset.
Experience creating or coordinating library communications such as newsletters, promotional materials, signage, or social media content to support library programs and services is considered an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
