ABOUT THE ROLE

Under the direct supervision of the Manager - Communications the Communications Specialist serves as a principal writer and editor, resource, planner, and content creator. Responsible for internal and external communications, marketing, media relations, and public relations events support.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education/Experience:


Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or other related field. A minimum of two years of experience in communications, public relations, media relations, marketing, or similar field. Demonstrated expertise in Social Media.




Skills/Abilities:


Exemplary writing and editing skills. Impeccable attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts to a wide variety of skill and interest levels. Strong visual and storytelling skills, with a proven ability to bring concept to life. Graphic design skills are an asset, specifically Adobe Creative Cloud (eg: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Experienced in working with a Content Management System, as well as social media platforms (eg: Facebook, LinkedIn) and management systems (eg: HootSuite). Demonstrated regular attendance at work




Asset:


Photography and video production experience are an asset.




Conditions of Employment:


This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory

Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC)

where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions. Will be required to travel to various work locations and provide own reliable transportation Ability to work irregular hours (requirement of the job ie: evening or weekend public engagement or event)
