Fluor Canada is seeking an intermediate level communications professional, experienced in driving success across internal communications. Reporting to the Director of Communications & Public Affairs, the successful candidate will support and deliver a broad range of activities in the internal communications space, while working with other functions in an integrated manner.

This role includes oversight of two internal portfolios: 1) Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I), and 2) crisis communications. The successful candidate would benefit from a focused interest and demonstrated accomplishments in these areas (or in deliverables that can directly relate / support).

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Timely delivery of well-planned and well-written communications pieces, including weekly e-newsletters, intranet articles and event recaps, project and people spotlights, office announcements, etc. (sourcing content, creating first drafts, navigating approvals, intranet publishing, coordinating graphic design and distribution).
  • Create, maintain, and drive an internal editorial calendar for the Calgary office.
  • Working with key internal groups (departments/functions, Employee Resource Groups, committees, etc.), develop strategic and forward-looking communications plans that support internal groups? goals as well as the company?s strategic direction.
  • Content creation and maintenance for internal shared resource sites in support of office initiatives and related communications plans.
  • Working with marketing services, management of content across digital signage inside the Calgary office.
  • Provide communications support as needed for ongoing employee service recognition breakfasts.
  • Planning and logistics support for office-wide events and initiatives as needed.
  • Communications support and advice across other functions within Communications & Public Affairs will also be required.

The following responsibilities apply within the Crisis Communications portfolio:
  • Working with HR, regular updates and maintenance of crisis communications database.
  • Management and updating of message templates within the crisis communications database.
  • Working with HSE, ensure that the Calgary office Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is reviewed and updated annually.
  • Conduct annual tests of the system and reminders of profile maintenance for employees.


The following responsibilities apply within the Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) portfolio:
  • Liaise between Fluor Canada Ltd. and external thought leaders in the DE&I space to inform and build out Fluor Canada?s 2023 internal DE&I learning plan.
  • Source, write for approval, and distribute the monthly internal DE&I Canada-wide newsletter.
  • Write and share internally focused DE&I articles and presentations for personnel.
  • Maintain, populate and promote the DE&I internal shared site of resources.
  • Working closely with the Director of Communications & Public Affairs, facilitate and lead monthly meetings of a Canadian Inclusion Council (collection of information from council members to drive KRA discussion, creation of slide deck, etc.).
  • Liaise directly with the leads of Fluor Canada?s Employee Resource Groups in the interest of promoting alignment at the Inclusion Council table and streamlining DE&I efforts.
  • Working with the Inclusion Council and Employee Resource Groups, provide Canadian-specific DE&I metrics and forecasting to the Global lead of DE&I for Fluor Corporation.
  • Facilitate and drive alignment with Global DE&I with respect to programs and initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Job Requirements
Requirements:
  • Bachelor?s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, or equivalent
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a corporate communications capacity

Skills & Competencies:
  • Creative and thoughtful writing style
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent time management and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Proven problem-solving capabilities
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision
