Overview

Responsible for implementing and evaluating an effective marketing plan in alignment with MAGMA\xe2\x80\x99s marketing and branding strategy, the Marketing & Communications Coordinator will work closely with the organization\xe2\x80\x99s various department and will be reporting to the Strategic Communications Manager. The Marketing & Communications Coordinator will support the organization\xe2\x80\x99s presence on social media platforms, at events, and help build MAGMA\xe2\x80\x99s presence and share its message in the community.
Core Position Responsibilities
include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the design, printing and distribution of marketing and communication materials including; event invitations, MAGMA signage, banners and promotional collaterals.
  • Manage MAGMA\xe2\x80\x99s website and continuously update information to accurately reflect the organization\xe2\x80\x99s services and programming.

  • Grow and manage the organization\xe2\x80\x99s visual assets and inventory including: photos, design, and graphics.

  • Manage and grow MAGMA\xe2\x80\x99s presence on social media platforms (Including Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn) and its community outreach by providing an overview of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s programs and services.

  • Support the branding, marketing and organization of MAGMA corporate, cultural and community events such as MOSAIQ Festival and MAGMA AGM.

  • Ensure all promotional and marketing materials are in alignment with MAGMA brand and marketing strategy.

  • Assess and report on the effectiveness of all communication strategies.

  • Produce and edit videos & photos that support MAGMA\xe2\x80\x99s strategies.

  • Create and manage a marketing and communication calendar shared with our MAGMA community.

  • Create PowerPoint presentations.

  • Develop 101 workshops and training material as needed.

  • Good organizational, planning, and coordination skills
  • Flexibility and ability to multi-task and re-prioritize as needed
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A sense of urgency; self-motivated and detail-minded
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • Good verbal presentation, group dynamic, and facilitation skills
  • Proactive approach in resolving problems and issues.
  • Bilingual (English & French), other languages an asset
Education, Knowledge, and Experience:
  • Demonstrated experience with all types of social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram, etc.)
  • Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and web content management systems experience
  • Knowledge of the Settlement sector and it\xe2\x80\x99s funders and partners

Core Staff Duties
The following core responsibilities are required of all MAGMA staff:
  • Event Participation: As a multicultural association which networks extensively with other organizations as well as hosting a wide variety of events, MAGMA staff are asked to be flexible in arranging to take part as these events usually take place outside of regular working hours. While each staff\xe2\x80\x99s role may involve specific activities, in general the staff are required to attend core events including the Annual General Meeting and the Mosa\xc3\xafq Multicultural Festival. Time spent at these events are taken in lieu, as arranged with the department manager.
  • Administration: As a government-funded organization we are required to report in detail on our activities. Staff are therefore required to submit a variety of regular reports on the fulfilment of their role requirements.
