Position Summary:

This role will be responsible for building communication strategies supporting the vaccines business in Canada, including employee communications, organizational communications, brand communications, media relations, corporate reputation and issues/crisis management.

This role will coordinate efforts with the larger Sanofi Canada Communications network, and work collaboratively with the US Communications Team and Global Vaccines Communications network to further build a powerful Sanofi brand and drive operational excellence in communications.

This role will provide communications support and guidance to the Company's leadership team across Industrial Affairs, Commercial Operations and R&D by leveraging synergies through a strong cross-functional collaboration.

This position will play an integral part in shaping the evolving culture through change management initiatives.

This position will report to the Head of Communications, Sanofi Canada, and will be based in Toronto.

Key Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing a team of communications consultants, PR agencies and vendors.

Develop effective communications strategies to support business objectives.

Shape, develop and drive the company's vaccines communications strategy, platforms and programs.

Utilize his/her intimate knowledgeable of operating and driving initiatives within complex organizations to lead the communications aspect of Change Management, media/crisis/issues management, brand communications and other site communications responsibilities.

Active member of both the Toronto Leadership Exchange team and Toronto Site Industrial Affairs Council (IAC).

Secure and manage department budget.

Develop short and long-term strategic internal and external communications plans that support vaccines business objectives in Canada.

Internal/Corporate Communication

Responsible for the oversight for internal news or programs that impact the organization and activities.

Develop integrated approach to communications across internal audiences and oversee the execution of all internal communication plans, including employee newsletter, TV screens, videos, intranet and other employee communication vehicles.

Support senior management communication objectives for employees. Develop, plan and manage company events and meetings.

Liaise and collaborate with other communication colleagues in the Sanofi Canada network.

External Communication - Brand Communications and Media Relations

Build and maintain positive relationships with media and various key stakeholders.

Act as primary spokesperson for Sanofi Pasteur in Toronto.

Partner with all vaccine brand teams to develop and implement public relations strategies and plans. Manage PR agency.

Key Requirements:

Undergraduate degree in Journalism, Communications or related field is required.

At least 10-15 years of overall experience in corporate communications that include employee engagement experience, brand communications, public relations, and social media.

Experience in large manufacturing organization or in healthcare communications an asset.

Experience working in a matrix organization.

Demonstrated leadership skills and inter-personal management skills.

Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English. French is an asset.

Media relations/spokesperson experience.

A driver with high level of professionalism, strong work ethic and the ability to balance multiple assignments.

A collaborator and a strong team player with demonstrated ability to cooperate transversally to provide creative solutions.

Work consists of a wide and diverse variety of duties and responsibilities requiring strategic, analytical, constructive, and/or innovative thinking to develop solutions.

Proficiency in PowerPoint, Word and ability to learn internal approval systems for communications materials.

Languages:

English level required: Advanced, excellent knowledge (Reading, Writing, Oral).

French: Good knowledge preferred.

Travel:

Occasional.
