Communications OfficerThe Service Team provides communications and marketing services (including graphic and web design) to units within the . Units within TLSE champion and promote the success of USask students and encourage and support USask academic instructors.Primary Purpose: As a member of the Service Team, this position supports and advances the strategic enrolment management goals of the University of Saskatchewan. This position creates effective, timely and relevant communications that are primarily targeted to current and prospective students and those supporting them. This position supports the communications strategies developed for the TLSE. As part of the Service Team, they may develop other types of communications to meet strategic needs of the TLSE.Nature of Work: Reporting to the Director, Service Team, within University Relations, the Communications Officer will create communications materials primarily focused on current and prospective student audiences, via multiple communications platforms, including print, web, email, social media, and PAWS. The communications will be strategically aligned to the USask\'s priorities including, those laid out in the ohpahot\xc3\xa2n | oohpaahotaan Indigenous strategy, the EDI framework for action and current anti-racist practices in communications and marketing. This is a high-volume position requiring the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment with competing deadlines.Flexible hours may be required on an occasional basis outside of standard working hours.Accountabilities:

  • Create targeted content to communicate with current or prospectuive student audiences and those supporting them;
  • Work in a highly collaborative team environment that is responsive to changing needs, multiple demands and tight timelines;
  • Ensure that all communications materials align with strategic directions related to the TLSE;
  • Work with a variety of campus stakeholders within and beyond the TLSE portfolio, including representatives from colleges and University Relations;
  • Develop content for communications materials (including websites, newsletters, emails, videos, print and digital media) which are primarily targeted at current and prospective students;
  • Work within a relationship management system to create and deliver communications;
  • Proofread and edit materials for appropriate content and errors to support the reputation of the campus and the effectiveness of the material;
  • Support numerous photo/video shoots with the goal of ensuring up-to-date photography is readily available for use in a variety of print and online materials;
  • Cultivate professional relationships that support effective partnerships and collaborations;
  • Ensure that internal standards, procedures, policies and best practices are utilized in all communications materials in support of the university brand;
  • Support event planning teams to ensure the successful communication of TLSE-led events;
  • Support the identification of timely, value-added technologies and ideas to improve communications opportunities; and
  • Perform other duties in support of Service Team priorities, as required.
Education: A university degree in communications, publishing, journalism, marketing, English or another related field. A combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered.Experience: Minimum two years of communications work experience, preferably in a post-secondary environment.Skills: Exceptional ability to write messages for a variety of current and prospective student audiences, along with: excellent oral and interpersonal skills;
  • a proven ability to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and as part of a team;
  • strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills;
  • demonstrated customer service orientation;
