Anglican Diocese of Huron
Status: part time - 16 hours per week
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY: To provide direction and advice on all communications activities of the Diocese; to ensure effective internal and external communications through the Bishop's Office
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Website Management and Development
Manage the diocesan website to ensure content is relevant and up to date
Develop content for website and work with departments to help them develop content
Participate in ongoing creative development of the website
Social Media
Manage and produce content for the diocese's social media channels
Provide communications leadership and support for diocesan media projects (including but not limited to e-communications, brochures, posters, video and audio-visual presentations).
Strategic Communication
Advise diocesan leadership in responding to world news and current events.
Produce video messages with the bishop monthly, and for Feast Days and recommend other communication tools to the bishop
Facilitate internal communications within the diocese, using a variety of tools, including the Diocesan Website, e-mail distribution list, The Huron Church News*, and others as appropriate. Manage and provide content for an informative and useful diocesan web site
Advise parishes and related organizations on how they can improve their communications
Provide liaison for the Diocese on joint projects with other dioceses, the National Church and ecumenical and interfaith partners.
Provide leadership for communications and technology for synod.
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum three years experience in developing and executing communications in the non-profit sector.
Superior communication writing, public relations and interpersonal skills.
Excellent attention to detail and quality of work.
Experience with writing and presentation
Self-starter, creative and enjoys working with people.
Strong media relationships an asset.
Familiarity with the Anglican Church and the work of the Diocese of Huron is an asset.
