Job Summary

Be a visible face of HKW Canada in Ottawa: build relationships, advocate for migration justice, engage MPs and committees, and amplify the voice of the Hong Kong community in national conversations. This is a remote role but the position holder must be based in Ottawa to attend meetings and events, with occasional travel to other regions of Canada as required. Applications from those who live outside Ottawa will not be processed.

Key responsibilities:

Build and maintain trusted relationships with Hong Kong community leaders and organisations across Canada. Actively engage Members of Parliament, especially within the Citizenship and Immigration (CIMM) and Foreign Affairs and International Development (FAAE) committees. Represent HKW in parliamentary events, hearings, and briefings. Track and contribute to Canadian government policies on the Hong Kong Pathway, particularly concerning backlog issues. Organise events in Parliament. Build a volunteer team. Represent HKW Canada at civic events, cultural gatherings, and community forums. Coordinate diplomacy and policy meetings with allies and partner NGOs. Maintain and update a contact database of community leaders, MPs, and allies. Collaborate with the UK team on strategic messaging and donor engagement. Contribute to media work, including interviews, op?eds, quotes, and press releases.

Essential

Commitment to HKW's mission and values Fluent in English and Cantonese Experience in policy, advocacy, or government engagement Ability to build and sustain relationships with community leaders Confident public speaker and communicator Organised, self?directed, able to plan around parliamentary calendars

Desirable

French language skills Existing Canadian parliamentary network Established trust within the Hong Kong diaspora Media experience (op?eds, interviews) Fundraising or donor cultivation experience
