Job Summary

The Communications Officer provides support for the delivery of communications, publishing and marketing services in areas such as researching background information, drafting content, , information dissemination, preparing multi-media tools and products including social media posts, and responding to public and media requests. The support is relative to the preparation of products such as correspondence, backgrounders, fact sheets, news releases, feature articles, newsletters, speeches, information kits, information on the Internet and Intranet products (e.g. content for PowerPoint presentations) and to participation in related public relations activities.

Statement of Qualifications

Education

University graduation in communications, journalism, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Experience

Experience in communications coordination, social media, or multi-media production
Experience building collaborative working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders
Experience developing and implementing communications projects, products or activities (e.g., events)
Experience in project management

Knowledge

General knowledge of SSHRC\'s mandate.
Knowledge of theories, principles and techniques regarding conventional and emerging communications
Knowledge of communications and marketing processes and practices
Knowledge of the Government of Canada Communications Policy
