Accountabilities:

  • Drive the communications direction for Sun Peaks Resort LLP and Sun Peaks Grand LLP through strategic development and tactical execution of key objectives.
  • Help guide strategy and integration between communication and marketing tactics to best achieve business goals of organization.
  • Work collaboratively with the internal team to roll out key guest communication efforts for items such as: operational updates, product launches, and important company developments or initiatives.
  • Lead all external corporate messaging.
  • Create engagement and communication plans for community stakeholders and partners.
  • Implement and manage a public relations strategy focused on both local and regional markets.
  • Build relationships to help drive positive brand perception and reputation of the organization.
  • Develop the strategy, plans, and execution of all social media platforms both internally and alongside Tourism Sun Peaks. This is in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Specialist.
  • Manage daily guest communication functions in winter season (snow reporting).
  • Serve as primary media and media relations contact for the organization and assist with corporate spokesperson duties as required.
  • Act as organizational lead on media release efforts and any required follow up.
  • Track all media coverage and key social media metrics as necessary.
  • Work alongside the internal team on content strategy/execution to meet communication objectives.
  • Develop and maintain the crisis communications plan and direction for the organization.
  • Lead external issue management and reputational risk mitigation efforts.
  • Work cross functionally throughout the organization with multiple departments and business units on various programs and activities related to communication initiatives.
  • Financial and personnel management responsibilities as required.
Ideal Candidate:
  • Multi-year work experience in communications management in a similar or related role
  • Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, commerce, or related field
  • Management and supervisory experience with strong overall business acumen
  • Direct and detailed experience with varied communication and marketing efforts
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
  • Results oriented with background in metric monitoring and reporting
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities with tight deadlines
  • Effective leader in issue management and crisis communications
  • Relationship management background with industry stakeholders and partners
  • Thrive in a team environment and embrace collaboration across varied platforms
  • Knowledge of mountain resort product and current competitive environment
  • A passion for outdoor recreation: ski, snowboard, bike, and golf all considered assets
  • Strong computer literacy required (MS Office, MS Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver’s license
