Corteva Agriscience has an exciting opportunity for a Communications Manager.

The Communications Manager will lead communications for all Corteva Agriscience business operations in Canada. This role willdevelop strategies for business communications, employee communications, media relations, issues management and community relations. This Communications Managerwill provide public relations counsel to the Canada leadership team for activities relating to reputation, brand and issues management, and represent the Canada team on the Corteva Agriscience Communications team.

This rolewill report to the North America Communications Leader, and will work closely with Communications team members and the Canada Marketing Communications Leader, as well as respective business leaders and other functional team members, to support strategic internal and external communications projects.

The individual selected for this role will have a cross-functional mindset and collaborative behaviors to ensure strong alignment and coordination in responsibility areas. Youwill plan, coordinate and deploy communications that help employees to develop a deeper understanding of the business strategy.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the internal communication of business priorities, opportunities, issues and news for the Canadian business.
  • Poactively assesscommunication needs of employees and making recommendations to management. Assess the needs and develop materials and/or leverage communication professional networks to address communication-related needs.
  • Provide communications counsel to business director. This may include strategic communications recommendations/planning to manage key issues within Canada.
  • Lead development and execution of public affairs strategy for the business, including support for issues management, issues training and media relations. Work closely with the Corteva Agriscience Communications team to review plans against other commercial units, brands and business objectives and make recommendations to fill gaps and fully leverage communications opportunities. As part of the plan, develop communication messages and tactics to increase Corteva Agriscience visibility and positioning in Canada while increasing image/reputation among media, customers and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify emerging external issues and communications opportunities, respond to requests for information and represent Corteva Agriscience externally. Collaborate with Corteva Agriscience Communications and Marketing teams to ensure consistency and effectiveness of key messages.
  • Provide counsel and creative execution for major business presentations, internal websites, key internal communications and key external meetings.
  • This role will serve as a member of the Canadian leadership team.
Critical Experience:
  • Managingemployee communications tactics, including both planning and implementing programs
  • Media and digital communications tactics, including writing press releases, handling media inquiries and basic social media skills
  • Writing/creating executive and/or manager communications
  • Managing and building consensus among a variety of stakeholders and distilling multiple sources of information
  • Issues management communications
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture, Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or related field
  • 5-7 years of communications experience
  • Ability to work in-office in Calgary, Alberta, Canada
  • Ability to develop communication strategies that support business goals
  • Ability to ascertain and recommend concise communication messages from a wide array of material and inputs
  • Capability to communicate business information and key messages to key audiences in an effective manner
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic technical knowledge of agriculture, genetic improvement, biotechnology and the seed industry, as well as high business acumen
  • Ability to work confidentially and under tight deadlines and control responses in public forums and interviews
  • Self-starter with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Ability to be proactive and work in ambiguous situations
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationship inside and outside Corteva Agriscience and to work with intra- and inter-company teams
  • Strong organizational skills, including project management and prioritization abilities
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and improve
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Word and PowerPoint
Preferred:
  • Both agency and in-house communications experience
  • Experience within the agriculture industry
  • Previous role in employee or corporate communications, issues/crisis or media relations
  • Bilingual (English and French Canadian)
