Position summary The Manager, Communications, reports to the Director, Business Development and Communications, is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing high-quality communications strategies to effectively describe and promote the organization and its programs and services, build brand recognition, raise cause awareness, maintain and attract supporters, and drive participation in fundraising initiatives. This role provides supervision to junior communications staff. These communication efforts include content creation, volunteer opportunities, event planning, and community engagement initiatives and to ensure they align with SFC\xe2\x80\x99s mission, vision and values. The position often collaborates with program managers. RESPONSIBILITES
  • Work with the Director of Business Development and Communications on generating creative communications ideas and strategies to position the organizations brand in its target audiences, as well to attract and maintain supporters;
  • Lead and manage the junior Communications Department team members.
  • Manage and supervise the Community Safety Team staff;
  • Develop and deliver marketing/informational materials, including newsletters, press releases, targeted emails, articles, videos, and media opportunities to share St. Felix Centre\xe2\x80\x99s brand and information regarding its programs and services;
  • Oversee that all communications and community engagement efforts and strategies provide a consistent, engaging, targeted, and impactful message;
  • Manage and quality assurance the organization\'s content for its communication channels and digital platforms, including email, website, and social media accounts, as well as in printed materials;
  • Participate in the planning, management, and execution of fundraising initiatives;
  • Promote collaboration within the communications team to deliver effective communications and marketing strategies to promote the organization\xe2\x80\x99s programs, events, and fundraising initiatives.
  • Oversee storytelling efforts;
  • Build and maintain solid relationships with assigned internal stakeholders to better develop, manage, and facilitate strategic communications and initiatives designed to meet organizational goals;
  • Work proactively and inclusively with all stakeholders to support productive relations between community members and St. Felix Centre;
  • Participate in the communications efforts budget development and responsible for expense tracking.
  • Research and understand target audiences and their behavior, competitor communications activities, and environmental factors impacting the sector;
  • Stay informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications, within and outside the sector, to foster ideas and innovation;
  • Prepare detailed communications and community engagement activity reports;
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of the social media strategy and large social media campaigns;
  • Define most important social media key performance indicators (KPIs);
  • Flexibility to attend special events outside of regular working hours;
  • Monitor social media profiles daily, including weekends;
  • Follow all health and safety protocols;
  • Other duties and committee work as assigned
Education Completion of a 2 year college diploma or equivalent work experience in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or relevant field. EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience in a similar role;
  • Proven experience leading and managing teams;
  • Strong experience in creating, editing, proofreading, and delivering professional communications content, including written, graphic, and video;
  • Prior experience working in a not-for-profit organization an asset;
  • Experience in planning and executing communications strategies with clear targets, with proven track record of goals accomplishments;
  • Strong knowledge of communication best practices, techniques, and technologies, both written and oral, for campaign developing across multiple platforms;
  • Expertise in creating strategies for multiple social media platforms, with excellent working knowledge of Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn;
  • Experience in planning and executing fundraising strategies and small and large events/fundraisers;
  • Experience with developing relationships and partnerships;
  • Proficient with different project management, email automation, and analytics tools a strong asset;
  • Experience with online paid advertisement a strong asset;
  • Experience with DMS systems is a strong asset;
  • Demonstrated experience and working knowledge of SEO, key performance indicators and Google Analytics preferred.

  • Skilled in visual design, with strong experience with design software (Canva).
  • Confident communicator and presenter.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media.
  • Self motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
  • Proficient in using social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram.
  • Proficiency in Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook) is required.
  • Strong networking and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in MailChimp required.
  • Experience with DMS systems preferred.
  • Ability to travel within sites.
  • Some moderate lifting (up to 25 pounds) may be required on an occasional basis.
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
