The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. Who You Are





Reporting to the Public Relations Director, the Communications & Events Administrator is responsible for providing high-level administrative support, assisting with event planning and coordination, and ensuring smooth departmental operations. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities efficiently.





This role works closely with the Public Relations team, other departmental staff, and external partners to support and implement short- and long-term goals, ensure service delivery, and promote transparent and accountable governance.

Roles & Responsibilities




Provide comprehensive administrative support, including drafting, proofreading, and formatting documents, reports, and presentations. Support planning, coordination, and delivery of organizational and community events, including venue booking, catering, supplies, transportation, and registration. Assist with event promotion, advertising, follow-up reporting, and post-event evaluation. Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems in accordance with office standards. Assist with financial tracking, month-end Visa reconciliations, and other administrative duties. Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of organizational and community events, such as Annual General Meetings, community gatherings, and special functions. Handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism. Assist with executive and departmental planning activities as required. All other duties as assigned.



Qualifications




Diploma or bachelor's degree in business administration, Communications, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an administrative or coordination role, preferably in communications, government, or executive settings. Experience supporting event coordination is considered a strong asset. Strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).



Other Requirements




Possess a valid Class 5 AB driver's license and own or access to a vehicle. Willingness and ability to travel as required by business needs. Willingness and ability to work after hours and/or weekends when required. Willingness to submit to an Oath of Confidentiality. Willing to work flexible schedule. Must provide and possess a clear criminal record
