*COMMUNICATIONS & DONOR OUTREACH SPECIALIST* Foundation Office at Saanich Peninsula Hospital or Sidney, BC Office Saanich Peninsula Hospital & Healthcare Foundation (SPHHF) is seeking a seasoned Communications & Donor Outreach Specialist. This is a full-time role that comes with a great benefit/vacation package and the successful candidate should have several years of communication experience across all platforms, preferably for a not-for-profit organization. This is a highly effective and supportive work environment and we look forward to adding a communications specialist to the team. *Who is Saanich Peninsula Hospital & Healthcare Foundation?* SPHHF is a charitable organization that supports the funding needs of Saanich Peninsula Hospital and access to great healthcare for communities throughout Saanich Peninsula and the Southern Gulf Islands. We fundraise annually through signature events, 50/50 lotteries and annual campaigns which require significant donor, sponsor, media and community outreach. SPHHF is a well-recognized and respected organization, known for its good work and integrity. We are seeking a Communications & Donor Outreach Specialist to join our amazing foundation team, and help us build on our successes well into the future. *Position Summary* The SPHHF team is small and close-knit, so it is very important for the successful candidate to be a team- player and strong communicator. The Communications & Donor Outreach Specialist will assist with the development and implementation of the organization\xe2\x80\x99s internal and external communication strategies and programs. This role will work closely with the foundation\xe2\x80\x99s external advertising agency to; maintain brand standards, create consistent internal & external communications, reach out to local and provincial media outlets, manage social media content, make ongoing updates to website content, create semi-annual newsletters and develop marketing materials. Working within a complex stakeholder landscape, the incumbent will utilize all available platforms to convey accurate and up-to-date information about fundraising efforts, events, programs and services and the ongoing needs at Saanich Peninsula Hospital and surrounding communities. The role is a source of reliable information, supporting all initiatives of the foundation, and conveying our great work outward. *Primary Duties* * Develops in coordination with a volunteer team, 2 semi-annual foundation newsletters and assists with the design and overall look in keeping with brand standards * Works closely with external ad agency Holy Cow and assists in the planning and development external campaign communications * Develops and design written materials including program-related documents, forms, media releases, newsletters, posters, event materials and all internal and external communications required by the team * Leads in the writing, editing, and reviewing of internal communication documents that support programs, projects, leadership messaging, and organizational culture * Assists with improving communications and content management processes to increase effectiveness and adhere to best practices * Analyzes marketing ROI and evaluates information to develop an online communications strategy * May assist with the management of internal/external event communication in support of fundraising engagement strategies *Required Experience* * 3+ years of experience in a communications role, developing communications strategies and implementation * Experience with media communications and media advisories * Facility with Office 365, all social media and design platforms *Beneficial Experience* * Working in a fundraising environment * Familiarity with CRM systems s/a Raiser\xe2\x80\x99s Edge or Donor Perfect *Required Qualifications* * University undergraduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or a related discipline preferred and/or proven combined experience * Specialized communications & design related education, training and certifications preferred * Significant web development experience an asset *Required Competencies* * Familiarity with Constant Contact messaging, managing web changes, social media platforms, ad posting, Raffle Nexus processes, Fastrac for newsletters and media outlet familiarity a definite asset in the role * Excellent writing and design skills required * Clear understanding and implementation of patient/staff/donor/sponsor engagement practices in an empowering, respectful and empathetic manner * Utilize best practices in principled information and story/advertising development * Strong working knowledge of communication principles and practices * Capacity to engage with stakeholders to ensure clear and consistent two-way communication * Possess excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication with strong writing and editorial abilities * Proven relationship building skills, with primary focus on the organization or client\xe2\x80\x99s needs and priorities * Adaptability to changing priorities and evolving circumstances * Demonstrated analytical and logical thinking, sound judgement skills with the ability to engage necessary resources to solve complex problems * Ability to effectively plan, prioritize and follow through in a timely manner and with anticipation of potential roadblocks * Ability to communicate clearly and compellingly and gain consensus across a diverse group of stakeholders Thank you for your interest in this position.
