The Munk School of Global Affairs proudly offers 14 teaching programs in a variety of areas of global expertise. As part of the University of Toronto, we are home to exceptional faculty, experts, and researchers from around the globe, and over 40 academic centres, labs, and programs. Our goal is to build an unique, world-renowned research, teaching, and public engagement centre that shapes the new field of global affairs from Canada. Under the general direction of the Director, Strategic Communications, the Communications Coordinator, develops communication plans and strategies to support the strategic goals of the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy. The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for supporting Communications for the Undergraduate programs at the Munk School. The incumbent will be responsible for the design and development of communications materials, marketing and outreach efforts of the department to increase the profile and reputation of the Munk School nationally and internationally.
Specifically, the incumbent develops and coordinates execution of targeted communications plans and develops and distributes promotional material in both web and print formats including for awareness campaigns and information sessions, special events and general information.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing tasks related to the production and dissemination of communications/marketing materials.
  • Implementing project communications plans.
  • Editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks.
  • Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials.
  • Editing content for style and tone.
  • Consulting with clients regarding the development of marketing and/or communication materials.
  • Liaising with clients to draft, review and discuss communications briefs.
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications or marketing or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four (4) years' of recent and related experience in communications, journalism, or marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience with communications project implementation and coordination through to execution and results.
  • Experience with interviewing, researching and writing content (feature and news), reports, letters, and promotional (websites, brochures, posters, advertisements, newsletters, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience with WordPress, Drupal, Canva, Adobe or other current content management software (CMS).
  • Demonstrated experience using relevant CRM systems.
  • Experience managing content for websites, and newsletters.
  • Experience with developing and managing digital marketing.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of social and multimedia strategies, tools, channels, trends, and capabilities.
  • Experience working with technical consultants and graphic designers to create effective and engaging materials.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to deal with a variety of responsibilities, with interruptions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Project implementation skills and knowledge about the principles of good design and how to assess audience needs.

USW Pay Band 11 -- $76,577. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $97,928. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
