Information & Instructional Technology Services (IITS) provides the technological vision and leadership for the development and implementation of information systems, processes, and associated technology to support the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus' academic mission and administrative operation. IITS works closely with faculty, staff and student groups to provide timely, top-quality service and technological solutions across the University of Toronto Scarborough community. Your opportunity:

In this role, you will support the Instructional & Information Technology team in communication activities across the UTSC campus. Working collaboratively with the IITS service teams and the Marketing and Communications Department, this role will be responsible for developing communications regarding major technical projects or rollouts, fostering awareness and education around information security and other key IT topics, promotion of service changes or alerts regarding service interruptions in an effort to keep our campus informed. In addition to ongoing communication support, this role will also be responsible for the development of communication guidelines and templates for easy use in the future. This role will also be responsible for coordinating IITS events and training sessions and promoting these events to the UTSC community.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing communication plans that support outreach goals and objectives
  • Advising on best practices and strategies to maximize digital communication initiatives
  • Determining logistical details and activities for IITS events and/or training
  • Producing, Editing and Coordinating the preparation and distribution of promotional/outreach materials and verifying that content is consistent with brand identity guidelines
  • Maintaining information on digital platforms
  • Analyzing the effectiveness of campaigns and/or programs using metrics
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
  • Serving as a resource to others by providing (non-supervisory) job-related guidance
Essential Qualifications:
  • University degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum four (4) years of related experience in communications with successful project management and experience developing content for promotional and outreach materials and contributing to the planning of communication in support of technical projects and teams
  • Exhibits superior written communication skills, creativity and has a thorough understanding of best practices in communications
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator
  • Must have a high level of attention to detail and demonstrated ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with team members and establish effective working relationships with a wide range of people from a variety of organizational and social cultures
  • Demonstrated professionalism, ability to display tact and diplomacy and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong ability to work effectively under pressure and meet competing deadlines

Assets (Nonessential):
  • Experience working in a post-secondary institution, in an academic department/ unit, or for a government office highly preferred
  • Experience working within the information technology field and a basic understanding of IT systems and applications highly preferred

USW Pay Band 11 -- $67,659 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $86,523. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
