Position: Communications Coordinator Department: Administration Employment Status: Full Time Salary: $29.34 - $35.07/HR \xe2\x80\x93 35 Hours per Week Location: Naughton, ON Closing Date: December 14, 2023, at 4:00pm
POSITION SCOPE:
The Communications Coordinator is involved in all aspects of the development and implementation of Atikameksheng Anishnawbek\'s internal and external communication strategies. The Communications Coordinator is responsible for promoting the First Nations reputation and developing short and long term strategic communications across the organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Mandatory Requirements

  • Post Secondary diploma or degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or related discipline.
  • Strong working knowledge of communication principles and practices.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years communications experience required.

Additional Requirements
  • Must possess excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication with strong writing and editorial abilities.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 Suite, WordPress, Adobe InDesign, internet, and other communication tools.
  • Working knowledge of audio and visual equipment.
  • Must possess strong project management skills.
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines and execute flawlessly on projects in a fast-paced, often pressured environment and see a project through to completion.
  • Must have the ability to be an influential communications consultant within the organization.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Must be capable of maintaining confidentiality, with a high level of accuracy regarding information.
  • The ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work effectively with all levels of employees is critical.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing content for Atikameksheng Anishnawbek newsletter, and flyer
  • Maintain Atikameksheng Anishnawbek website redesign
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and measuring external and internal communication plans and activities
  • Develop and implement communication materials and media content to inform Atikameksheng Anishnawbek community of administration-led activities, events, and initiatives.
  • Coordinate media and technical support requirements and ensure consistent communication content for community engagement sessions, workshops, meetings, and ceremonies.
  • Develop communication materials to support and promote Atikameksheng Anishnawbek vision and mission statements, including message development, social media content creation and media outreach.
  • Implement and evaluate the communications policy to identify improved means of communication and effectively engage the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek membership and community.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners (media outlets, sister First Nations, other community organizations, etc.) to establish communication networks
  • Provide guidance to ensure coordination and communication of messages/news to both internal and external audiences.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of communication channels by reviewing monthly analytics
  • Other tasks as necessary
