Are you a motivated and experienced Communications Coordinator looking for an exciting new opportunity? Alberta FNIGC is a not-for-profit, First Nations-owned organisation. We promote, protect, and advance First Nations\' Ownership, Control, Access, and Possession (OCAP\xc2\xae) principles, the inherent right to self-determination, and jurisdiction in research and information management. Our organisation supports partnerships with our Nation members regarding free, prior, and informed consent to promote credible data owned by First Nation Peoples.
Based in either Calgary or Edmonton, the successful candidate will plan, execute, and coordinate marketing campaigns, manage multiple communication channels, and provide communications support throughout Alberta FNIGC.

What you might do in a day. . .

  • Create, edit, and distribute written and visual marketing materials (e.g., blog posts, brochures, digital content, event promotions, multimedia presentations, press releases, and respond to media inquiries);
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across the organisation;
  • Manage social media accounts and online platforms to promote the Alberta FNIGC;
  • Monitor, analyse, and recommend improvements to marketing materials and campaigns;
  • Coordinate event logistics and promote events to target audiences;
  • Foster and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and influencers; Collect and analyse data and prepare reports and presentations with key analytics and insights.

If you are. . .
  • Known as the \xe2\x80\x9cgrammar-hammer\xe2\x80\x9d in your current company;
  • The first to take charge of planning and executing functions for your friends and family;
  • The go-to videographer at parties; and
  • A bit of a unicorn in your approach to your work\xe2\x80\x93 creative and analytic, independent and collaborative, strategic and tactical.

And you have. . .
  • A Bachelor\'s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field;
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite, along with various digital marketing tools, social media platforms, and content management systems;
  • A clear understanding of First Nations cultural sensitivities and worldviews as well as in-depth knowledge of Indigenous governance, culture, and languages; and
  • A valid class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and the ability to spend several nights away from home while travelling to more remote nations.
