Sunshine Coast Community Services Society is a community-based organization that has been providing services for people on the Sunshine Coast since 1974. Summary:

The Communications Assistant promotes SCCSS\xe2\x80\x99s mission, programs, events, and other activities both internally and externally. You will create and publish content for our website, social media, email communications, and other publications, telling a compelling story of SCCSS and its programs to inform and engage the community about our work and increase our fundraising capacity. You will work closely with, and provide assistance to, the Communications and Fund Development Coordinator, upholding the organization\xe2\x80\x99s branding and image.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates on and helps implement a communications plan in line with our strategic plan.
  • Updates and manages the SCCSS and Building Together websites.
  • Use a range of apps and design software to create content and messaging for digital and print.
  • Creates content for and manages social media on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Creates content for e-newsletters, brochures, posters, business cards and other communication materials for internal and external use.
  • Supports development of the Annual Report.
  • Supports in promoting programs, fundraising initiatives, our Capital Campaign, Building Together, and other special events and community initiatives.
  • Stays current with SCCSS programs and services.
  • Maintains image library, logo bank, and permissions of use.
  • Works with admin and program staff to ensure branding is consistent across the organization.
  • Maintains a sense of urgency, diplomacy and timeliness when responding to requests.
  • Supports the mission, vision and values of SCCSS and adheres to all policies.

Qualifications:

  • Two years of related experience plus a diploma or degree in communications or design from a recognized program, or the equivalent in education and experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of communication principles and practices, how they are developed and implemented with an understanding of the importance of branding.
  • Strong computer skills in Adobe CS programs InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience with CRM software Keela and apps such as Animoto, Canva and Survey Monkey an asset.
  • Experience with web design and editing using the platform Concrete 5 an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design requirements and delivery of print and digital communications.
  • Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with the culture of a non-profit environment and demonstrated cultural competency.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and shifting deadlines.
  • A flexible schedule for occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Successful results of criminal records check.
