The Opportunity: The Communications Assistant role will report directly to the Hospital\xe2\x80\x99s Communications Officer and will work to support all areas of communications, as guided by our Strategic Directions. Additionally, the role will work to support the creation and development of various communication tactics, to ensure the successful implementation and roll out for various engagement events, communication plans and communications products, for internal and external stakeholders. The Communications Assistant will also provide support and back up coverage for the Communications Officer, to ensure a seamless flow of information to stakeholders at all times, with the individual trained across all communications platforms and tools. Qualifications:
Public Relations, Communications or Journalism (diploma or degree)
3-5 years of related experience
Strong interpersonal skills
Demonstrated writing skills including writing for social media
Excellent editing and video editing skills (iMovie or comparable platform)
Previous use of Hootsuite or other social scheduling platform
Previous use of a Content Management System (CMS)
Familiarity with Canva for basic design work
Familiarity with Mailchimp or other newsletter/direct marketing platform
Familiarity with AODA requirements and creating accessible documents (Word and PDF)
Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Familiarity with Apple products an asset
Photography an asset
Familiarity with Microsoft Teams an asset
Familiarity with Survey Monkey
Media monitoring and tracking
Ability to learn and use a variety of computer applications and content management systems
Strong ability to meet deadlines and organize time effectively in a fast-paced environment
Superior communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including the Senior Team, Leadership Team and professional staff, as required
Must strive to continuously provide a safe and supportive environment for patients, staff, physicians, and volunteers
Must adhere to the duties of workers, as stipulated in the Occupational Health and Safety Act
Must have an ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) in the English language in order to provide excellent communication with team members, patients and families. Ability to communicate in additional language(s) is considered an asset.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Plans, coordinates and posts social media activities including updates on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn using Hootsuite
Researches and creatively writes health care content to engage internal and external stakeholders, across various mediums: social media posts, weekly internal newsletter, memos
Updates content on hospital\xe2\x80\x99s website and Intranet (the Pulse)
Takes pictures to support content or designs in Canva
Monitors external media coverage and uses social & digital media to effectively communicate or respond to others
Works with Hospital staff, in collaboration with the Communications Officer to promote awareness programs (i.e. infection control awareness, Healthy Workplace, Strategic Recruitment, creating an Employee Brand and Value Proposition and other initiatives)
Video Editing, Photography, Videography
Manages video monitor displays
Manages internal bulletin boards
Designs basic posters, media tiles, signage and infographics in Canva
Assists with the development or visual improvement of PowerPoint presentations for internal or external use
Assists in writing: press releases, reports, letters and speaking points
Assists with coordinating internal information meetings for staff and deliver follow up communications as necessary
Ensures appropriate voice messaging and greetings on corporate telephone systems.
Monitors website to ensure appropriate content, including but not limited to banner updates, content and images.
Assists with administrative duties that supports communications, as needed
