Job Summary:



We are seeking a highly reliable, organised, and detail-oriented Communication & Dispatch Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a central point of communication between customers, drivers, and operations, ensuring the efficient routing and dispatch of waste collection services. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, communicates clearly, and maintains calm and accuracy under pressure.

Key Responsibilities:



Schedule and dispatch waste collection vehicles based on daily operational needs, predetermined routes, and customer requests.

Communicate professionally with customers, drivers, supervisors, and operational teams to ensure timely pick-ups, deliveries, and service completion.

Monitor route progress using telematics and dispatch systems; adjust daily routes in response to emergencies, road conditions, staffing levels, and customer needs.

Prepare and distribute accurate operational reports for internal teams, customers, and municipal partners--including service logs, route summaries, exception reports, and compliance-related documentation.

Document key operational data such as route performance, driver hours, customer feedback, and vehicle service schedules.

Collaborate with management to optimise and redesign routes for improved efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Respond promptly and professionally to urgent issues, service disruptions, or incidents, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.

Ensure all dispatch activities adhere to company safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and service delivery standards.

Provide administrative and operational support as needed to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.

Qualifications & Skills:



High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in dispatch, logistics coordination, or operations support--preferably within the waste management or transportation industry. Valid driver's licence is an asset. Experience using

Samsara

telematics/dispatch systems is

highly preferred

. Strong report-writing skills, with the ability to prepare clear, accurate, and professional documentation for customers, internal departments, and municipal partners. Proficiency with dispatch software and general computer applications. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organisational and time-management abilities, with the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced operational environment. Solid geographical knowledge of service areas and surrounding regions. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel); familiarity with financial, operational, or service-tracking software is an asset. Ability to stay calm, composed, and solution-focused while managing time-sensitive issues.
