JGL Commodities is seeking a motivated, detail-focused, and relationship-driven Commodity Trader to join our team in either our Moose Jaw or Saskatoon office. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working collaboratively to support producers, customers, and internal partners. As a Commodity Trader, you will play a key role in developing, implementing, and maintaining business plans for the procurement, warehousing, and merchandising of assigned commodities.

Key Responsibilities
Procurement and Merchandising
Develop and sustain procurement strategies and programs, identifying both risks and potential rewards.
Monitor, analyze, and manage assigned product positions in alignment with direction from the General Manager.
Approve pricing premiums and discounts for designated products within established guidelines.
Navigate supplier shortages, quality concerns, and related claims with professionalism and sound decision-making.
Oversee logistics, allocations, and purchase and sales orders to support timely and efficient product movement.
Market Analysis and Business Planning
Stay informed on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities, recommending proactive action plans.
Review and analyze progress toward business plans and key indicators such as gross margin, sales volume, revenue, and customer satisfaction.
Prepare and submit regular reports outlining product achievements, opportunities, challenges, and recommended next steps.
Collaboration and Relationship Management
Maintain consistent communication with JGL Commodities staff to ensure shared understanding of product requirements and priorities.
Foster strong, positive relationships with internal teams, administrative support, suppliers, and customers.
Communicate sales strategies, programs, and market updates clearly and effectively to internal stakeholders.
Administrative and Operational Support
Develop a working understanding of accounting and credit processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Provide administrative support as required to assist with smooth day-to-day operations.
Perform additional duties as needed to contribute to the overall success of the team.
What You Bring
Post-secondary education in Business, Commerce, Logistics, or a related discipline.
Previous experience in Agri-commodities with a solid understanding of the Canadian grain industry.
Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to understand commodity markets and develop effective strategies.
Proven negotiation skills and the ability to build strong, trust-based business relationships.
Ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with innovative logistics solutions that support efficient, cost-effective product movement is an asset.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach to identifying and resolving challenges.
Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
