Job Description


The Mechanic Shop Helper / Apprentice works alongside the Commercial Transport Red Seal Mechanics, supporting the regular maintenance of a motor coach and shuttle bus fleet. The Mechanic Shop Helper / Apprentice is an integral part of the team and an enabler of success as we safely move people to their destinations. Previous experience in a labour or mechanics job is a plus, however, we are willing to train the right candidate. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Working alongside Commercial Transport Red Seal Mechanics, the primary responsibilities of Mechanic Shop Helpers / Apprentice are to:

  • Assist with diagnosing and addressing issues with motor coaches and buses
  • Perform minor repairs and conduct routine maintenance and servicing on fleet
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by ensuring proper storage and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Complete other duties as assigned
ABOUT YOU You are a motivated, self driven, safety-oriented individual who enjoys learning and wants to launch your career as a mechanic in the passenger transportation sector. Your critical thinking, troubleshooting, problem solving, and attention to detail will contribute to your success as a Mechanic Shop Helper. YOUR QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
  • Completion of heavy-duty mechanic foundations course required
  • Working knowledge of tools, techniques, and terminology associated with the mechanics\xe2\x80\x99 trade
  • Working knowledge of the accident and safety precautions of the trade
  • Experience working with motor coaches or buses (preferred)
  • Currently apprenticing in the field, or has an interest in apprenticing (asset)
  • Excellent teamwork skills\xe2\x80\x93 able to work collaboratively and communicate with peers and supervisors
  • Highly motivated and eager to learn
