Job Summary
We are looking for a dynamic Commercial Sales Leader who will drive strategic growth in the commercial insurance segment by leading a high-performing sales team, developing market-specific strategies, and fostering strong relationships with clients and underwriters. This role is pivotal in achieving Sutherland Insurance's long-term goals, including expanding our commercial book, improving retention, and enhancing and delivering the "Sutherland Experience" to our current and future clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership
Develop and execute commercial sales strategies aligned with company goals.
Identify target industries and create outreach plans based on market capacity and team strengths.
Analyze cancellation lists and market trends to uncover warm leads and underserved accounts.
Team Development & Performance
Lead, mentor, and coach our commercial producers.
Set clear performance metrics and conduct regular one-on-one planning sessions.
Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, underwriters, and referral sources.
Ensure consistent delivery of personalized, relationship-based service as outlined in "The Sutherland Way".
Sales Operations
Monitor sales performance, pipeline health, and conversion rates.
Coordinate with marketing and service teams to ensure seamless client experiences.
Present regular sales reports and insights to senior leadership.
Market Engagement
Represent the company at industry events, networking groups, and trade shows.
Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging commercial risks.
Qualifications
Proven success in commercial insurance sales leadership (3+ years preferred).
Strong understanding of underwriting relationships, market dynamics, and referral strategies.
Experience with CRM tools and data-driven sales planning.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and coaching skills.
Ability to lead through change and inspire team performance.
CAIB, CIP, or CRM designation preferred.
