Overview



The Commercial Roofing Estimator & Project Manager is responsible for leading clients through the full lifecycle of their roofing projects -- from initial assessment and proposal development to project execution and close-out. This role involves a combination of office, field, and job-site work, blending technical roofing expertise with strong client communication and project coordination skills. The Estimator & Project Manager represents Iron Shield Roofing professionally on job sites and in client meetings, ensuring accuracy in pricing, clarity in project scope, and high-quality delivery from start to finish.

Key Responsibilities



Estimating & Proposal Development



Conduct detailed roof inspections on commercial and residential flat roofing systems. Diagnose roof system deficiencies and recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions. Prepare accurate estimates, including material takeoffs, labour calculations, scope of work, and pricing adjustments. Coordinate with suppliers for product information, specifications, and pricing. Present proposals to clients clearly and professionally, addressing questions and ensuring understanding of system options.

Project Management



Serve as the primary client contact throughout the project, providing updates and maintaining strong communication. Work closely with operations and the service department to schedule crews, materials, equipment, and site requirements. Oversee project progress to ensure installations meet Iron Shield Roofing standards and manufacturer specifications. Identify and resolve issues proactively, coordinating solutions with clients, field teams, and management. Conduct site visits for quality control, safety considerations, and milestone verification.

Client Relations & Professional Representation



Maintain long-term relationships with builders, developers, property managers, and homeowners. Provide clear, direct, and professional communication -- prioritizing transparency and integrity. Support clients through insurance requirements, documentation, and photo reporting. Manage expectations with diplomacy while protecting company interests.

Technical Expertise



Strong knowledge of commercial roofing systems including SBS, EPDM, TPO, built-up roofing, ballasted systems, vapour barriers, Poly ISO insulation, and specialty details. Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and architectural details. Apply building science principles when assessing drainage, ponding, and system failures.

Internal Leadership & Collaboration



Work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure accurate forecasting and job planning. Provide guidance and support to foremen, service crews, and apprentices. Identify process improvements in estimating, scheduling, and project documentation.

Qualifications



Extensive hands-on commercial roofing experience. Proven leadership background overseeing crews and job sites. Strong knowledge of SBS, EPDM, TPO, and various commercial roofing assemblies. Experience in quoting and selling roofing projects. Valid driver's license and comfortable working at heights. Familiar with COR safety practices, OH&S standards, and job-site hazard assessments.

Pay: $60,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
