The Commercial Building Manager oversees daily building operations, maintenance, and facility performance to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable environments for tenants. This role manages building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, elevators, fire/life safety), coordinates preventative maintenance, supervises contractors and staff, and ensures compliance with codes and regulations.

WORK WEEK:
The Commercial Building Manager will work during regular business hours, Monday to Friday, for 37.5 hours per week (not including a 30-minute unpaid meal break per day). Occasional overtime may be required.
LOCATION:
570 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver. The location for this position may vary based on operational needs. Flexibility to travel between and work at other locations will be required as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 3 years of experience managing commercial building systems.
Strong knowledge of BC building codes, fire and safety standards, and WorkSafeBC practices.
Experience overseeing building maintenance staff and service contractors.
Hands-on experience with preventative maintenance programs and building inspections.
Proficient in English (oral and written), including report writing and tenant communications
Flexible with a 'team player' attitude
Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds
Be able to safely walk, climb ladders and stand for extended periods of time
Be able to operate a scissor lift to reach high ceilings (training is available)
Be able to operate floor cleaning machinery, such as an autoscrubber
Be able to sit, climb, balance, kneel, crawl, push, pull, and stretch to fulfill required cleaning and maintenance
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Building Operations:
Manage daily operations of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevators, and life safety systems.
Maintenance & Repairs:
Coordinate preventative maintenance and respond to emergency repairs.
Facilities Supervision:
Oversee janitorial, maintenance, and security personnel.
Inspections & Compliance:
Conduct regular inspections; ensure compliance with codes, permits, and safety standards.
Emergency Preparedness:
Develop emergency protocols; train staff on fire, flood, and power outage response.
Construction & Projects:
Coordinate tenant improvement and capital projects; oversee contractors and ensure quality.
Documentation & Records:
Maintain logs of maintenance, inspections, permits, and service reports.
Health & Safety:
Promote safe practices in line with WorkSafeBC and company standards.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderately noisy in the building and can be moderately noisy when outside.
Construction environment due to tenant improvement and properties development and maintenance will be a huge part of the working condition.
