About the Role



As a

Combat Systems Certification Specialist

, you'll play a pivotal role in certifying

Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions, and Explosives (WOME)

systems and compartments across Canada's future combat fleet. You'll work alongside technical specialists and naval stakeholders to ensure the safe delivery of critical defense capabilities.


This role welcomes candidates with:


A Technology Diploma or equivalent technical experience


Experience in defence, shipbuilding or aerospace


Military service

Technical Evaluation & Issue Management



Assess the design, layout, and configuration of Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (WOME)-related compartments and equipment to ensure compliance with certification requirements. Identify and escalate issues to the certification authority to maintain schedule integrity and meet compliance goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration



Provide subject matter expertise to working groups and integrated product teams. Contribute to planning, documentation, assessment, and execution of certification deliverables--including the Certification Plan and Certification Compliance Matrix.

Safety & Risk Mitigation



Participate in hazard identification and risk assessment activities related to WOME systems and spaces. Recommend risk mitigations through design adjustments or procedural changes.

Regulatory Support & Compliance Evidence



Provide technical input to the Safety and Environmental Case body of evidence.

Education





A

Diploma in Engineering

or

Technology

or equivalent

technical experience





Experience & Requirements



A minimum of

5 years' relevant experience

in one or more of the following areas:


Weapons System Certification

-- Hands-on experience supporting or leading certification efforts for combat systems on naval vessels, including involvement in structured certification programs, audits, or compliance activities.


Care and Custody of Ammunitions and Explosives

-- Practical experience with managing weapons, ordnance, munitions, and explosives in alignment with safety protocols, handling procedures, and custodial responsibilities within military or defence-related environments.


Testing and Trials

-- Direct involvement in planning, executing, or analyzing sea trials, equipment testing, or systems verification activities focused on combat systems performance and validation.


Candidates must be

eligible for security clearances
