About the Opportunity
Our client, a large and well-established Canadian organization, is seeking a Supervisor, Collections to join their corporate finance team in Calgary. This role is a key part of the company's Finance Shared Services function, responsible for leading a team of collectors to manage receivables, reduce delinquencies, and protect working capital.
This is a hands-on leadership position combining people management, process improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. You'll have the opportunity to make a real impact on both financial performance and customer relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Collections Leadership
Lead a team of collectors through daily huddles and weekly reviews, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue accounts and clear action plans.
Oversee overlimit and past due accounts, enforcing policy and recommending next steps.
Escalate high-risk accounts and manage external collections or legal escalations when necessary.
Collaborate with internal teams including Credit, Sales, and Operations to resolve account issues.
Maintain documentation standards and ensure all account activity is recorded accurately and professionally.
Analysis & Reporting
Prepare weekly AR and collections reporting, highlighting risks and trends.
Provide monthly AFDA recommendations and commentary.
Monitor KPIs and identify opportunities for operational improvements.
Team Development
Coach, mentor, and support a team of collectors, setting clear expectations and measurable goals.
Foster a positive, accountable, and solutions-focused team culture.
Lead recruitment, training, and development initiatives within the team.
Operational Excellence
Champion process improvements and systems enhancements within the Order to Cash cycle.
Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX, tax, and corporate policies.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and customer experience.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
Minimum 5 years of B2B collections or accounts receivable experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
Strong understanding of collections processes, policies, and best practices.
Proficiency with ERP systems and intermediate to advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.).
Experience working within a shared services or oil & gas environment is an asset.
Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities with professionalism and accountability.
