Job Description


We are looking for a highly motivated Collections Specialist to join our team in Cambridge, Ontario. This long-term contract opportunity is ideal for someone with strong analytical skills and a background in collections, who thrives in both independent and collaborative work environments. As part of a dynamic team, you will play a crucial role in managing accounts, ensuring timely payments, and maintaining positive client relationships.
Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with a team of three to manage collections processes effectively.
  • Conduct initial cross-training during the first two weeks, working primarily in-office before transitioning to a hybrid schedule.
  • Follow up on payments from independent variety stores and resolve discrepancies with large food service accounts.
  • Guide customers through portal logins and assist with setting up preauthorized payment methods.
  • Ensure adherence to established processes and detailed account management procedures.
  • Communicate professionally with clients to address payment issues and provide solutions.
  • Utilize Excel for data analysis, including pivot tables, to track and manage accounts.
  • Address problem accounts by following detailed notes and established protocols.
  • Work proactively to identify and resolve issues while maintaining accurate records.
  • Collaborate with the team to address errors and improve efficiency.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in collections or accounts receivable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, for data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients and team members.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Experience with SAP or similar systems is an asset.
  • Skilled in handling commercial collections and managing client relationships.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to follow detailed processes and procedures.
  • Quick learner who adapts well to changing schedules and environments.
