Sous la responsabilite de la direction de l'ecole et en collaboration avec l'equipe multidisciplinaire, elle participe a l'elaboration et a la redaction du plan d'intervention; elle selectionne des mesures a prendre pour atteindre les objectifs qui y sont determines, elabore son plan d'action et applique ces mesures; elle evalue l'atteinte des objectifs et participe a l'evaluation du plan.
Elle elabore, organise et anime des activites educatives ou de soutien pedagogique, culturelles, ludiques et sportives visant a developper des habiletes sociales, cognitives, psychomotrices, de communication ou autres; elle choisit, prepare et, au besoin, voit a l'adaptation ou a la fabrication du materiel necessaire a ces activites. Elle collabore a la determination et a la realisation d'autres activites educatives telles que l'organisation et la supervision de stages en milieu de travail.
Elle appuie l'eleve dans ses apprentissages, notamment en classe; dans la mesure de ses competences, elle l'aide dans la lecture et l'ecriture et elle lui fournit des explications; elle l'aide dans l'apprentissage des lecons et l'execution des devoirs.
Elle observe la situation et intervient aupres des eleves en reaction avec leur environnement; elle leur procure une relation d'aide; elle utilise, lors de crise, des techniques d'intervention pouvant favoriser le retour au calme et a l'ordre; elle les accompagne dans leur demarche de modification de comportement; elle apporte son soutien a l'enseignante ou l'enseignant pour assurer, en classe, un environnement propice aux apprentissages.
Elle utilise des techniques de communication adaptees aux besoins des eleves.
Elle fournit de l'information pour sensibiliser les eleves aux diverses deviances ou dependances et, au besoin, elle les rencontre pour les conseiller, les aider ou les referer a des ressources specialisees.
Elle assure l'encadrement des eleves qui, a la suite d'une sanction, doivent suivre leur cours dans un local separe; elle les aide a poursuivre leurs travaux scolaires; elle convient avec les eleves et les intervenantes et intervenants concernes des conditions de leur reintegration en classe.
Elle peut etre appelee a accompagner les eleves en difficulte a l'arrivee et au depart des autobus scolaires.
Elle consigne ses observations et ses interventions, tient des dossiers et redige des rapports concernant la situation des eleves.
Elle collabore, au besoin, avec les organismes de protection de la jeunesse et les autres intervenantes et intervenants externes, notamment en signalant les cas d'abus ou de negligence parentale; le cas echeant, elle assiste la direction concernee lors de fouilles d'eleves.
Elle rencontre les eleves, les parents et le personnel enseignant pour les conseiller, les informer et leur fournir la documentation et les references pertinentes.
Au besoin, elle administre les medicaments selon les prescriptions medicales et conformement a la politique d'encadrement des eleves de l'ecole et aux instructions des parents; elle procure les premiers soins.
Elle peut etre appelee a utiliser un ordinateur et les divers logiciels necessaires pour l'execution de ses travaux.
Elle peut etre appelee a initier des techniciennes ou techniciens moins experimentes de meme qu'a coordonner le travail du personnel de soutien dans les taches accomplies par ce personnel relativement a la realisation de programmes d'operations techniques dont elle est responsable.

Scolarite
et
experience
Etre titulaire d'un diplome d'etudes collegiales en techniques d'education specialisee ou etre titulaire d'un diplome ou d'une attestation d'etudes dont l'equivalence est reconnue par l'autorite competente.
Autre
exigence
Etre titulaire d'un document datant d'au plus trois (3) ans, attestant la reussite;
1-soit d'un cours de secourisme general d'une duree minimale de huit (8) heures;
2- soit d'un cours d'appoint d'une duree minimale de six (6) heures visant la mise a jour des connaissances acquises dans le cadre du cours mentionne au paragraphe precedent.

Nature
of
the
Work
The principal and customary work of an employee in this class of employment consists in working with a multidisciplinary team to apply special education techniques and methods in keeping with an individualized education plan intended for handicapped students or students with social maladjustments or learning difficulties or in keeping with a program designed for students requiring specific support.
Characteristic
functions
Under the responsibility of the school administration and in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, he or she participates in developing and drawing up an individualized education plan; selects the measures designed to attain the objectives determined, develops his or her action plan and applies the measures; assesses whether the objectives were attained and participates in evaluating the plan.
He or she prepares, organizes and conducts educational or pedagogical support activities as well as cultural, recreational and sports activities designed to develop social, cognitive, psycho-motor, communication or other skills; selects, prepares and, if necessary, ensures that the necessary material is adapted or constructed for these activities. He or she works with other staff to determine and carry out other educational activities, such as the organization and supervision of practicums in the workplace.
He or she helps students with learning activities in class. Within his or her competence, the employee helps a student to read and write and provides him or her with needed explanations; helps him or her with lessons and homework.
He or she observes situations and works with students reacting to their environment; counsels them; applies to students in crisis situations intervention techniques conducive to calm and order; coaches them in their behaviour modification process; provides support to the teacher so as to ensure an environment conducive to learning in the classroom.
He or she applies communication techniques adapted to student needs.
He or she informs students of the various disorders or dependencies and, if necessary, meets with them to provide them with advice, help or referrals to specialized resources.
He or she supervises students who, following a sanction, must receive instruction in another room; helps them with their schoolwork; determines with the students concerned and with the staff involved in intervention efforts the conditions for reintegrating the classroom.
He or she may be required to accompany students with special needs on the arrival and departure of school buses.
He or she records his or her observations and interventions, keeps files and prepares reports on a student's situation.
He or she works, where necessary, with youth protection organizations and external interveners in matters pertaining, in particular, to parental abuse or negligence; where applicable, helps the school administration to conduct student searches.
He or she meets with students, parents and teachers to provide them with advice, information and pertinent documents and referrals.
If necessary, he or she administers medication according to medical requirements and the school policy in effect and to the parents' instructions; administers first aid.
He or she may be required to use a computer and the necessary software to perform his or her duties.
He or she may be required to train less experienced technicians as well as coordinate the work of support staff in performing duties related to the implementation of programs involving technical operations for which he or she is responsible.
If need be, he or she performs any other related duty.
Schooling
and
experience
Hold a Diploma of College Studies in special education techniques or a diploma or an attestation of studies recognized as equivalent by the competent authority.
Other
requirements
Hold a certificate dated no more than three (3) years attesting to the successful completion of:
a standard first aid course of a minimum eight (8)-hour duration;
a refresher course of a minimum six (6)-hour duration updating the skills acquired in the course mentioned in subparagraph 1.

Salary: $27.01 to $38.87 per hour based on qualifications; schooling; experience
Start Date: As soon as possible.
End Date: June 19, 2026
The position is governed by the collective agreement between CPNCA and the independent association of support staff of the Western Quebec School Board (S19).
