Your Opportunity One Temporary (Up to 24 Months) Full Time Position. We at Capital Power Corporation is currently seeking innovative and results-oriented individuals to join our team at Genesee. As a Coal Plant Operator, you will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient daily operation and inspection of fuel handling and ash handling equipment. You will contribute to our team by

  • Working safe and adhering to Capital Power\xe2\x80\x99s procedures and policies as well as OH&S.
  • Coal handling and ash handling system inspections and basic diagnostics.
  • Operation of CMMS including work requests.
  • Minor maintenance of coal handling and ash handling equipment and related infrastructure including, rollers, conveyor skirting, scrapers, rope seals etc.
  • Operation of mobile equipment as required.
  • Operation of fuel handling and ash handling equipment.
  • Relief for Coal Plant Operator II as required.
  • Administration and operation of WPS.
  • Conducting thorough inspections of coal handling and ash handling systems and providing accurate descriptions of deficiencies when reporting to higher levels.
  • Input into improvements and efficiencies of operation and systems.
  • Accurately assessing initial risk of equipment deficiencies.
  • Instilling zero risk to themselves and coworkers regarding HSE.
  • Create and maintain effective relationships amongst the team and with the other areas of the plant.
  • Other duties as directed.
What you will bring to the role Knowledge:
  • High School Diploma.
  • Clean driver abstract.
Technical Skills:
  • Experience in the operation and minor repair of related equipment.
  • Class 5 driver\xe2\x80\x99s license.
  • Able to work shift work and be in good physical condition to meet the demands of this position.
  • Basic computer skills are required to maintain equipment records.
Working Conditions:
  • Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety sensitive location.
  • Physical mobility and ability to use PPE required.
  • Multi-union/out-of-scope work force.
Additional Details Wage: $41.90 per hour Hours of Work: 40 hours a week As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug & alcohol test is required. Clearance of a pre-employment medical will also be required. Note to Applicants: The Genesee Generating Station is 80 kilometers southwest of Edmonton - you must provide your own transportation.
