Role Overview



We are seeking an experienced CNC Operator and Programmer to lead all programming and operation of our Biesse Rover K pod and rail CNC. This role is central to our production flow and requires a blend of technical expertise, practical experience, and a high level of ownership.

You will be responsible for transforming shop drawings and cut lists into accurate, efficient CNC programs and for executing those programs safely and consistently on the machine. You will collaborate closely with our draftsperson, project managers, and production team to ensure accuracy, minimize rework, and meet project timelines.

We manufacture a wide variety of custom architectural millwork, cabinetry, and unique furniture projects, offering consistent technical challenge and variety.

Key Responsibilities



Operate the Biesse Rover K pod and rail CNC for day-to-day production. Set up tools, load programs, adjust offsets, and maintain machine readiness. Verify cuts, troubleshoot issues, and ensure accuracy before components move to assembly. Maintain a clean and safe working environment, following all safety protocols. Perform daily and weekly machine maintenance and report service needs proactively. Work closely with the design team to provide feedback on drawings and improve manufacturability. Assist in optimizing material yield, nesting, tool paths, and machining strategies. Document programming standards and support continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all work meets West Isle's quality standards and delivery expectations.

Requirements



Must-Have Skills



Minimum 5 years of CNC programming experience, including hands-on machine operation. Experience in cabinetry, millwork, or woodworking manufacturing is mandatory. Strong understanding of cutting sheet materials, including plywood, MDF, and particle board. Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, and cut lists. Fluency with CNC programming software (BSolid experience is not required). Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. High attention to detail and personal accountability for accuracy and quality. Ability to work efficiently and maintain focus in a fast-paced production environment.

Preferred Experience



Experience with pod and rail CNC systems is desirable but not required. Experience with Biesse BSolid is an asset but not required - alternative programs can be used to write programs before importing.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$32.00 per hour
