Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CNC programming and machining, with the ability to operate CNC lathes and milling machines effectively. This role requires mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to read blueprints accurately. The CNC Machinist will play a crucial role in producing high-quality components while adhering to safety and quality standards of ISO 13485 and AS9100.

Responsibilities



CNC Machine set up and operation per setup instructions; Performing machine calibration operations and reviewing operating software to ensure it is meeting reliability and performance metrics; Performing required machine maintenance and ensuring proper records are maintained; Maintain all cutting tool libraries / develop tool life database; Fabricate fixtures and work holding devises to support machining operations Observe the machining operations and test programs Deliver training for apprentice and junior machinists, evaluate performance, and develop and implement skills development plans; In-process and final inspections as required; Interpretation of drawings, manuals, specifications, etc; Shop-floor manual programming and program editing by assignment; Manual AM support materials removal and part detailing as required; Tasks as assigned required to support production; Analyze simple to complex customer blueprints to determine what process parameters and machining process requirements to produce a quality part when required; Develop programs using CAD-CAM for CNC Machines (such as lathes, Milling Machines, wire edm) to machine metals to precise dimensions as required; Design and fabrication of fixtures and work holding devises to support machining operations as required; Conform to all quality, safety, and human resource policies and procedures. Operate CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision parts according to specifications; Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and CAD models to ensure accurate machining; Conduct quality checks using calipers and other measuring tools to maintain product standards; Collaborate with team members in a lean manufacturing environment to improve processes and efficiency; Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment as needed for assembly tasks; Maintain a clean and organized work area, following all safety protocols; Shop cleanliness and organization;

Education



2-year college diploma or equivalent in related field;

Training



Advanced training with CAD software (Siemens NX or Fusion) an asset; Advanced training in Set up and operate various CNC equipment (2 &5 axis milling machines, lathes, EDM).

Experience



Minimum 5 years' experience with 2 and 5 axis CNC Setup / Operation in a manufacturing environment and a minimum of 1-2 years' experience with CAD/CAM systems; Experience in a fast-paced work environment while being detail-oriented, team and independent work environment;

Skills



Knowledge of how various machine tools operate, cutting tool theory and practice, working properties of various metals used in the manufacturing process; Proficiency in mathematics, measuring tools, power tools, and finishing methods; Familiarity with 5S; CNC Programming experience is preferred Experience in training machinists and supervising apprentices; Knowledge of Unigraphics, CAMplete and/or other such programs is preferable; Proficient in the use of Siemens NX CAD/CAM, and CAMplete is an asset. Also proficient in the use of MS Office products (Word, and Excel); Fluent in G and M code and the ability to debug output; Machine tool operation, cutting tool theory and practice; Excellent people and communication skills; Able to lift up to 60 lbs and perform physically demanding work. Experience with machining techniques including setup, operation, and maintenance of CNC equipment. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles to enhance productivity. Ability to operate forklifts safely within the manufacturing environment. Welding skills are a plus for additional fabrication tasks.
