Our machining department has an immediate opening for a

CNC Machinist with Lathe experience

. The CNC Machinist is responsible for creating quality parts produced on CNC machines according to company plans, blueprints, and other diagrams. Responsibilities will include loading parts, proving programs, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring, and inspection of quality parts for conformance to requirements. The CNC Machinist will detect equipment malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust the machine, within capabilities, controls or control media as required to ensure quality of production and report all machine malfunctions to their immediate leader. This position will be required to operate lifting devices as an essential element of their duties and is safety sensitive.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. Produce quality parts on CNC machines under the direction of the Machine Shop Foreman. Load parts, prove programs, operate controls, set offsets, make simple edits, deburr parts, and inspect finished workpieces to ensure they meet quality and conformance requirements. Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, the sequence of operations, and setup requirements. Measure and mark dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces as a guide for subsequent machining. Detect equipment malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine, within capabilities, controls, or control media as required to ensure quality of production. Report all machine malfunctions to your leader. Communicate with your leader to resolve machining or quality issues. Operate lifting devices for movement of parts. Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly, and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment. Adhere to and comply with all provincial and federal laws, the Company ISO Quality Program and procedures, Company policies, and Safety and Environmental Regulations. Verify dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments. Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including computer numerically controlled (CNC) tools to perform precision machining operations such as sawing, turning, milling, boring, drilling, precision grinding, and other operations. Completion of internal documentation. Maintain continuity between work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs. Attend and participate in all toolbox, safety, and other scheduled meetings. Other duties as assigned.

Desired Qualifications:



5+ years of experience operating large hollow spindle CNC lathes in a heavy manufacturing environment. Red Seal Journeyperson machinist certification preferred. Conversational programming or G-code experience would be an asset. Ability to edit existing programs and test new ones Excellent knowledge of reading drawings and specifications with an intermediate understanding of geometric tolerancing and dimensions. Excellent knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts, and other accessories used on various machines. Excellent knowledge and application of precision measuring instruments and the application of such instruments. Instruments should include but not limited to calipers, ID and OD micrometers, depth gages, indicators, and scales. Ability to operate lifting devices for movement of parts. Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to manage change, delays, or unexpected events. Ability to detect, isolate, and identify irregularities and malfunctions in machinery and equipment. Accurate and highly analytical. Strong work ethic and positive team attitude. Experience with Mastercam, SolidWorks, Fanuc, Siemens, and Mazatrol Controls.

Shift:



Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
