CNC Machinist

to join our growing team.

POSITION SUMMARY:



The CNC Machinist is responsible for the set-up and operation of CNC lathe and milling machines to precise tolerances. In addition to operating conventional machinery such as engine lathes, milling, grinding, drilling, sawing, and boring machines, this role requires a strong attention to detail, precision, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints to ensure all components meet quality standards and specifications.

Job Responsibilities:



Machine Setup and Operation:



Set up and operate CNC machines (lathe, mills, or grinders) to perform machining operations. Read and interpret engineering blueprints, work orders, and technical drawing, including charts, tables and symbols for tolerances, surface finishes, and other specifications. Set up, adjust, and calibrate production machinery, tools, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance. Program CNC machines or modify existing programs to meet specific production needs. Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments to optimize performance. Ensure the machining process adheres to strict tolerances and dimensions. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to improve production efficiency. Load and unload raw materials and finished parts as needed. Manually de-burr finished products to remove sharp edges or surface imperfections. Perform routine maintenance on machines and follow preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.

Quality Assurance:



Monitor the condition of tools, fixtures, and machines to ensure proper functioning and optimal production. Maintain, repair and calibrate precision measuring instruments to ensure accuracy. Perform quality inspections of finished parts to verify compliance with specifications. Document and report any deviations from specifications or tolerances. Maintain accurate inspection records and complete detailed inspection reports. Use precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, gages) to verify part dimensions.

Health and Safety Compliance:



Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all operational activities Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by performing basic housekeeping duties

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:



Minimum 5 years CNC machining experience, consisting of machine setup & operation. Ability to read, understand, and modify and edit CNC programs (G-code, M-Code) Good knowledge of using G-Codes on Mazak, Cincinnati, and Sachman will be a plus. Experience working with stainless, mild steel, cast iron and nylon. Extensive experience in CNC programming and troubleshooting, particularly with 3-5-axis CNC machining centers. Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM software, including Mastercam, with a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Hands-on experience with Mazatrol and Fanuc controls for both milling and lathe operations. Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, charts & tables. Strong knowledge of machining processes such as turning, milling, and grinding Skilled in using precision measuring tools (micrometers, vernier, caliper, bore gage, height gage Ability to lift and position heavy components up to 50 lbs. Exceptional attention to detail and precision in work. Ability to stand for extended periods of time. Knowledge and experience with gear manufacturing is an asset Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work efficiently in a team environment Strong Time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Certification from a recognized technical institution (CNC Machinist Certification) is an asset.
