Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated CNC Lathe Machinist/Programmer to join our manufacturing team. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring the efficient production of high-quality components through expert programming, setup, and operation of CNC lathes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in CNC lathe machining, a proactive approach to process optimization, and a commitment to quality and safety in every aspect of their work.
Key Responsibilities
CNC Lathe Machinist Responsibilities:
Program CNC lathe parts using IGF, G-code, or MasterCam, ensuring efficient and accurate tool paths.
Interpret engineering drawings and 3D models to determine machining strategies and setup requirements.
Set up and operate Okuma CNC lathes, selecting appropriate tooling, feeds, and speeds for each job.
Inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools (e.g., micrometres, vernier callipers) to ensure adherence to tight tolerances and drawing specifications.
Deburr and clean finished parts.
Troubleshoot and optimize machining processes, adjusting programs and setups as needed to improve efficiency and part quality.
Work collaboratively with machinists, production leads, and managers to enhance throughput, reduce downtime, and maintain a safe and organized work environment.
Maintain documentation for programs, setups, and tooling for repeatable and consistent part production.
Follow all safety protocols, quality standards, and production policies.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in CNC lathe machining, with a strong focus on programming and setup.
Demonstrated expertise in programming CNC lathes is required; only applicants with direct programming experience will be considered.
Proven experience with Okuma lathes and IGF control systems is essential.
Strong working knowledge of G-code editing, tooling selection, and feed/speed optimization.
Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments, including micrometres, vernier callipers, dial indicators, and gauges.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, solid models, and manufacturing documentation.
Schedule & Compensation
Shift:
Monday - Thursday, 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM
Training (During Probation):
Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Overtime:
Available as needed, including some Saturdays
Benefits:
Available after a 90-day probation period
Note: The successful candidate will be required to work the day shift during the probation period before transitioning to the regular night shift.
